"Why are they recording?"

According to a viral video, a woman was locked inside a London shop for allegedly stealing kebabs.

The unnamed woman allegedly stole kebabs from one store and was successful in doing so.

She and several others then went into a phone shop.

But unbeknown to her, the shopkeeper was aware of the alleged theft she carried out in the previous shop.

Taking matters into his own hands, the shopkeeper locked the woman and those she entered the store with inside.

Footage showed the woman banging on the glass door and ranting:

“Call the police. Call the f*****g police.”

As her outburst continued, more people gathered outside the store, recording the woman and mocking her.

Witnesses were heard laughing at her while one woman asked the alleged thief:

“Don’t you have any shame?”

Those who accompanied her appeared agitated and began making videos of their own, possibly to plead their case to the police.

People outside discussed the situation, with many deliberating about her ethnicity. They soon concurred that she is of Pakistani heritage.

At one point, the woman initially pleads with the shopkeeper to let her out before shouting at him.

Meanwhile, the alleged thief approached the locked doors and urged witnesses to stop recording. Another woman locked inside, possibly a relative, ushers her away from the door.

While those locked inside stand around, the woman in question continues to ask:

“Why are they recording?”

The video was captioned: “A Pakistani-origin girl in London caught stealing kebabs from a shop.

“When she entered the other shop, the shopkeepers locked her inside.”

As the video went viral, social media users shared their views, with many making stereotypical comments about her ethnicity.

One said: “Almost every other crime in London involves Pakistanis.”

Another wrote:

“You can leave Pakistan but Pakistani things will never leave you.”

A third added: “Pakistani caught stealing… well that is their literal birthright apart from begging.”

One comment read: “No matter which country it is, Pakistanis will show their talent.”

A user added: “Pakistanis are never away from the action!!”

Some posted racist comments, with one writing:

“Begging and stealing are just so typical characteristics of p***s.”

Another shared: “P***s doing what they know best.”

According to one user in the comments section, a person in the video had been speaking Sylheti, a Bangladeshi language, and referred to the alleged thief as a “w***e”.
