Naila Kiani is a leading mountaineer who comes from Pakistan.

She has obtained a number of world records and states that she will continue in order to achieve the targets she has set for herself as a mountaineer.

Kiani was born in Rawalpindi but now resides in Dubai where she works as a banker. She has two daughters.

Adding to her many talents, Kiani revealed she also took part in a competition as an amateur boxer.

In May 2023, Kiani climbed Mount Everest, becoming the second Pakistani woman to scale the peak.

Speaking about the achievement, Kiani said:

“There is no better feeling than being on top of the mountain, holding the flag of your country, and making the whole nation proud.”

This came mere weeks after Kiani climbed Annapurna I.

In 2021, Naila Kiani successfully became the first Pakistani female mountaineer to make her way up the Gasherbrum II mountain, measuring to be the world’s 13th highest mountain at 8,035 metres.

She gained a name for herself after she was recognised as the first Pakistani woman who climbed a range of five peaks totalling above 8000 metres.

In July 2022, Kiani was successful in her first pursuit of climbing K2 (8,611 metres), registered as the second-highest mountain in the world.

Naila Kiani revealed that she was proud to have obtained this milestone, as it was something she had manifested for a long time. Kiani expresses the desire to climb more peaks in the near future.

Currently, Kiani plans to climb the fourth tallest mountain, 8,516m Lhotse, which is in Nepal. She claims to continue her passion, regardless of her achievements already.

Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif took to Twitter to congratulate Kiani on her success.

He tweeted: “Naila Kiani had made Pakistan proud.

“Through her passion for mountaineering and amazing achievements to her credit, she has reinforced the notion that our women are capable of achieving anything.

“My heartiest congratulations to her and best wishes for her future plans.”

For her Everest expedition, Naila Kiani was supported by the BARD Foundation.
