"And if they don’t, it’s game over!”
Vidyut Jammwal’s first look as Dhalsim in his Hollywood debut, Street Fighter, has sparked major excitement online.
The teaser premiered at the 2025 Game Awards.
Based on the hit video game franchise, the makers also released character posters of the cast.
Vidyut’s look shows a clean-shaven head marked with bold red stripes.
His body is wrapped in tattered orange drapes while heavy metal bangles and tribal-inspired accessories build on Dhalsim’s mystical aura.
He appears with kohl-lined eyes and an arched brow while striking a martial pose.
Dhalsim is described as a yogi with fire-spitting abilities and “a fundamentally peaceful man who fights to support his family”.
On social media, fans praised Vidyut’s effort to deliver a convincing Dhalsim, with the bald look becoming an instant talking point.
One wrote: “From his shredded physique to the iconic Dhalsim makeover… THIS is a transformation nobody saw coming.”
Another said: “His transformation is absolutely wild.”
A third added: “Vidyut Jammwal – what an entry into Hollywood.”

However, others admitted they did not recognise him, as one said:
“I watched the trailer but didn’t recognise he was our Vidyut Jammwal.”
One comment read: “They took bro’s hair.”
Another commented: “Whoa, absolutely loved it. But I must admit, I do miss your hair in this look; it would have been even more incredible with it.
“It’s like watching Dhalsim in action, but with Vidyut Jammwal’s legendary hair missing.”
Set in 1993, the synopsis for Street Fighter reads:
“Estranged Street Fighters Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) are thrown back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang) recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament: a brutal clash of fists, fate, and fury.
“But behind this battle royale lies a deadly conspiracy that forces them to face off against each other and the demons of their past. And if they don’t, it’s game over!”
Street Fighter features an all-star cast.
As well as Andrew Koji and Noah Centineo, the film stars the likes of WWE star Roman Reigns, rapper 50 Cent and UFC champion Alexander Volkanovski, among others.
Street Fighter is directed by Kitao Sakurai from a screenplay by Dalan Musson.
It is scheduled to release in cinemas on October 16, 2026.
