"Decision pending. Here we go."
Charan Gill was spotted by cameras as he proposed to his girlfriend, Pavan Bains in the second One Day International Cricket (ODI) match between England and India.
The match, with a pleasantly surprising addition, took place at the Lord’s cricket stadium in London on July 14th 2018.
Whilst the audience celebrated the successful proposal, the cricket players were no exception. Cameras even caught Indian cricket player, Yuzvendra Chahal, clapping for them.
Sky Sports Cricket uploaded the video on to their Twitter a day later, on July 15th. The short clip captured the heartfelt moment Charan got down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend.
Not only did viewers at the event find the gesture sweet and romantic, the commentary itself garnered its own attention.
You can check out the video (and winning commentary) in the clip below!
Marriage decision 'pending'… ??

The commentator was able to exercise his creativity as the proposal gave him an opportunity to commentate on something other than cricket.
The clip opens as the commentator introduces Charan and Pavan and the camera zooms in on the couple. He builds up the anticipation saying:
“I think he’s got something to say to her.”
Charan stands up and pulls out the ring box. As Pavan spots the box, she is evidently surprised as she clasps her hand to her forehead.
With Pavan looking sufficiently shocked at the proposal, the commentator humorously uses cricket-lingo to comment on the short pause between the proposal and the answer. He said:
“Decision pending. Here we go.”
All eyes were on the couple as they appeared on the big screen with the words ‘decision pending’ at the bottom of the screen.
With a slight nod of Pavan’s head, the decision looks positive. Charan then slides the ring onto her finger and it becomes clear that the proposal has been a real success.
The commentator is delighted, he expresses his congratulations to the couple and exclaims:
“Ah she said yes! Oh what a decision. Absolutely fantastic. Charan and Pavan congratulations, what a day.”
The crowd erupted into cheers as the couple hugged each other as they savoured the moment. With temperatures reaching 30 degrees on Saturday, Charan chose an idyllic sunny day to propose.
But it wasn’t just the crowd who noticed this gesture of love, cricket player Yuzvendra Chahal couldn’t help but get involved.
The leg break bowler was seen walking around the pitch clapping for the happy couple. After taking a break to clap, he gets back to the job at hand and returns to bowling.
Whilst Charan was successful in winning his prize of the day, India seemed to miss the mark.
In terms of the actual cricket, England went on to win that match by 86 runs. As a result of Joe Root’s century and Liam Plunkett’s four-wicket haul.
This comes after India beat England in the 1st game of the 3 match Royal London ODI series. The first match in the series was in Trent Bridge, Nottingham on July 12th 2018.
With England’s win, the three-game series has now been levelled at 1-1. The deciding match will be at Headingley in Leeds on July 17th 2018.
