"He was an outstanding Parliamentarian and Minister"
Union minister and the founder of the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), Ram Vilas Paswan has sadly passed away at the age of 74. Many Bollywood stars have taken to social media to express their condolences.
Paswan died on Thursday, 8 October 2020 in the evening. He tragically died days after undergoing heart surgery.
Taking to Twitter, actress Nimrat Kaur shared a message in honour of the late Ram Vilas Paswan. She wrote:
“Heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of Shri Ram Vilas Paswan ji. May God give them strength and be with them at this grave hour. #RIPRamVilasPaswan ji.”

Reacting to the tragic news, Indian film director, Madhur Bhandarkar wrote:
“My deepest condolences to @iChiragPaswan & his family members. #Omshanti.”

Actor Randeep Hooda stated that the minister’s death was “a great loss.”

Bollywood star Riteish Deshmukh, who was shocked by the news shared a picture of the late minister with the caption:
“Shocked and saddened to know that Shri #RamVilasPaswan ji is no more. Heartfelt condolences to @iChiragPaswan, the entire family and millions of his followers.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also took to Twitter to express his sadness. He wrote:
“I am saddened beyond words. There is a void in our nation that will perhaps never be filled. Shri Ram Vilas Paswan Ji’s demise is a personal loss.
“I have lost a friend, valued colleague and someone who was extremely passionate to ensure every poor person leads a life of dignity.”
Narendra Modi also remembered Ram Vilas Paswan for his work in politics. He said:
“Shri Ram Vilas Paswan Ji rose in politics through hard work and determination. As a young leader, he resisted tyranny and the assault on our democracy during the Emergency.
“He was an outstanding Parliamentarian and Minister, making lasting contributions in several policy areas.”
Recalling the time they had worked together, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said:
“Working together, shoulder to shoulder with Paswan Ji has been an incredible experience. His interventions during Cabinet Meetings were insightful.
“From political wisdom, statesmanship to governance issues, he was brilliant. Condolences to his family and supporters. Om Shanti.”
Reportedly, the mortal remains of Ram Vilas Paswan will be brought to his Delhi residence. He will be flown to Patna and will be kept at the LJP office. He will be cremated in Patna on Saturday, 10 October 2020.
