"Shameful attack on Aleema Khan"
Two women were arrested in Rawalpindi after hurling an egg at Aleema Khan, the sister of ex-Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The incident occurred during a media talk outside Adiala Jail while she was addressing reporters following a hearing of the Toshakhana case.
Footage of the moment quickly circulated on social media and television channels, capturing Aleema’s stunned reaction when the egg struck her.
According to a statement from Rawalpindi Police, the suspects were PTI supporters who had arrived with protest groups in the city.
Authorities said the women were associated with the All Government Employees Grand Alliance and the All Pakistan Clerks Association.
The police report stated the women acted after Aleema failed to respond to their questions, sparking the unexpected confrontation during her appearance.
Both suspects were taken into custody and shifted to the Adiala checkpoint for further legal processing after the incident was reported.
The police noted that immediately after throwing the egg, the suspects attempted to escape in a waiting vehicle nearby.
Their car, however, was surrounded by PTI supporters, who threw pebbles at the vehicle, shattering its windscreen before authorities intervened.
Later, PTI reposted footage of a white car on X, calling the act a “shameful attack on Aleema Khan”.
In another statement, the party alleged the women were deliberately sent to disrupt the media talk as part of an agenda.
The statement further claimed police facilitated their escape and demanded registration of a first information report for the attack.
Senior government leaders and opposition politicians alike condemned the act, calling it disrespectful and damaging to democratic norms.
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif criticised the assault but also reminded PTI of similar behaviour its own supporters displayed in past years.
Aleema Khan has been disgracefully egged. This is the absolute lowest they can stoop. PML-N has proven time and again to be the worst corrupt, unethical, and utterly shameless.
We all know who sent them and what kind of people they are. Just sheer shamelessness. pic.twitter.com/ZMEKtjWAM6

Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal said political discourse must remain an exchange of ideas rather than descending into hostility or violence.
Minister of State for Interior Tallal Chaudhry described the incident as a reminder that politics must maintain civility despite differences.
Veteran PML-N politician Khawaja Rafique labelled the egg throwing a “vile and crude act.”
BNP Mengal chief Akhtar Mengal said targeting women in political disputes represented the lowest form of conduct and must be condemned.
Sindh’s Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon also expressed disapproval, stressing disagreements should never lead to personal disrespect or undignified behaviour.
Aleema Khan has been campaigning for her brother’s release since August 2024, nearly a year after his imprisonment in a corruption case.
Imran Khan has been incarcerated at Adiala Jail since August 2023, facing sentences and multiple pending trials under anti-terrorism legislation.
