"With hard work and a bit of luck, anything is possible."
Dr Jana Denzel is currently appearing as a candidate on BBC’s The Apprentice.
Jana is a cosmetic dentist and is the son of Tamil refugees.
The businessman recently cited the values of his parents as the inspiration in his life and career.
He said: “As the son of refugee parents who came to the UK with nothing, I grew up watching [my parents] work tirelessly to provide for our family despite their humble beginnings.
“Their resilience and determination instilled in me the values of hard work, ambition, and the importance of giving back to the community – values that have been a driving force in my life.”
Jana also detailed the privilege he felt upon being one of the UK’s leading dentists.
He continued: “After years of dedication to my profession, I’ve had the honour of becoming one of the leading dentists in the UK.
“I’m incredibly proud to have won the award for Best Dentist in the South of the UK in both 2021 and 2024.
“Now, as a candidate on BBC’s The Apprentice, I’m excited to take the next step in my career and prove that with hard work and a bit of luck, anything is possible.”
Jana grew up in Watford and attended Rickmansworth Road School. He added that these experiences “shaped who [he is] today”.
The dentist is one of three South Asian candidates participating in the 2025 series of The Apprentice.
The others are Amber-Rose Badrudin and Anisa Khan.
Along with several other hopefuls, they are battling it out for Lord Alan Sugar’s £250,000 business investment.
Speaking about being on the show, Jana said:
“The biggest challenge I hope to tackle is living and working closely with 17 other individuals in a highly competitive and intense environment.
“While it’s going to be a challenging experience, I’m eager to make the most of it.
“More importantly, I want to ensure that I have fun throughout the process, learn from my peers, and walk away with not just a potential investment, but genuine friendships that will last far beyond the show.
“I’ve earned three degrees: a BSc in Biology with Psychology, a degree in Dentistry, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry.
“Lord Sugar is known for making smart, bold investments, and my business has the potential to disrupt and transform the UK dental industry.
“If he wants to be part of something that will leave a lasting impact on this sector, investing in me and my business is a no-brainer.”
The 2025 series kicked off on January 30, 2025, with the contestants being tasked to run alpine tours in Austria.
While Jana was on the losing team in the task, Emma Rothwell was the first candidate to be fired due to not contributing effectively to the task and failing to defend herself in the boardroom.
Harpreet Kaur-Thakrar, who won the show in 2022, recently praised Jana for his performance in the first episode.
She commented: “I was really impressed by Dr Jana and his negotiation on the commission – that was good.”
The Apprentice continues on Thursday, February 6, 2025, when the candidates will be asked to create a new virtual pop star.
