"that's also a piece of good news for me."
Tasnia Farin’s debut feature film Fatima is now available for streaming on Bongo.
It was released on April 17, 2025, as previously announced by director Dhrubo Hasan.
The long-awaited OTT release comes nearly two years after its theatrical debut on May 24, 2023.
Despite an earlier announcement for a February 20, 2025, release on the platform, the premiere was delayed.
However, the reasons behind this were not disclosed.
Fatima, previously titled Dahokal during its initial production phase, has had a remarkable journey spanning eight years.
Shooting began under its original name before the title was changed, reflecting the evolving depth of the story.
Built around the inner and outer world of a woman, the film navigates past and present, dreams and reality, in an emotionally charged narrative.
The story centres on a deeply personal struggle, offering viewers a raw and thought-provoking experience.
Tasnia Farin, in the titular role, delivers a performance that not only resonated with local audiences but also gained international recognition.
Her portrayal of Fatima earned her the Best Actress award at the 42nd Fajr International Film Festival in Iran.
Speaking about the film’s journey, Tasnia said:
“When the director called nearly eight years later and said he was going to complete the film, I was surprised.
“But finishing Fatima, seeing it release, and receiving the Best Actress award has been an incredibly rewarding experience.
“Now that it’s releasing on OTT, that’s also a piece of good news for me.”
Alongside Tasnia Farin, the cast includes Yash Rohan, Tariq Anam Khan, Pantha Kanai, and Manas Bandyopadhyay.
Each performance adds layers to a story that has been praised for its emotional intensity and cinematic craft.
The film also won the Best Film award at the Rainbow International Film Festival in London, strengthening its reputation on the global stage.
Critical acclaim followed its theatrical run, with both audiences and reviewers commending the storytelling and performances.
Dhrubo Hasan shared his excitement about the film’s new digital reach.
He said:
“It’s finally releasing on OTT. I’m happy that many of my friends living abroad will now get a chance to watch it.
“Also, it will reach a larger audience through the platform, which is exciting.”
With its move to streaming, Fatima is expected to find a wider audience, introducing its powerful themes to viewers around the world.
