Actress Taapsee Pannu reveals that she does not find sex comedies amusing because of how they sexualise women.

Taapsee made her Bollywood debut with David Dhawan’s Chashme Baddoor (2013) with Ali Zafar.

Since then, she has continued to impress audiences with her versatile projects and amazing acting skills.

Taapsee has been seen in films like Pink (2016) , Naam Shabana (2017) , Manmarziyaan (2018) and so on. The actress has previously featured in the comedy film Judwaa 2 (2017) alongside Varun Dhawan.

Despite delving in the comedy genre, Taapsee Pannu does not find sex comedies entertaining.

Taapsee is known for her frank attitude and honesty and she explicitly highlighted her frustration regarding this matter.

According to an interview with Hindustan Times, Taapsee Pannu shared her thoughts on why sexual connotations towards women are not funny. She explained:

“Whatever sex comedies I’ve seen so far, I didn’t find them funny. I’ll never do one because it shows women in a particular light.

“Making woman the butt of all jokes, having sexual innuendos, double meaning just to titillate the audience is not entertaining.”

Taapsee continued to explain her view on item songs. She said:

“I’m open to doing all these glamorous songs but only for my films where I’m the heroine. I will not do just a random so-called item song.

“There has to be a very strong reason for me to do that song, apart from that it’ll make me look glamorous.”

Taapsee has been appreciated by fans for her unconventional and meaningful films. She has disclosed why she chooses not to do conventional films, saying:

“So, if I do something conventional, they’ll not like it. To some extent, I’ll also not like it and get bored.”

“I want my audience to believe in me blindly, that’s the niche I want to build for myself.

“Whenever a film is offered to me, I ask myself will I spend my hard-earned money or three hours of my precious time? if not, then I will not sign up for it.”

On the professional front, Taapsee is set to appear in Anubhav Sinha’s Thappad (2020).

The film also features Arjun Kapoor, Manoj Pahwa, Sharman Joshi and Pavail Gulati in the lead roles.

Thappad will showcase the story of what women want and their perception of relationships.

We look forward to seeing Taapsee Pannu grace the big screen once again.
