"We want to deliver a message of hope."
As World Mental Health Day 2025 approaches, Sukhvinder Kaur is an essential voice for the voiceless.
Sukhvinder is an author who wrote There is Light at the End of the Tunnel of Loneliness (2024).
In the book, she explored themes of mental health and commendably reflected on her own experiences of loneliness.
The author is all set to delve into these ideas in greater depth in a memorable workshop.
As she hosts her first workshop, Sukhvinder Kaur will be joined by Matt Peale, a corrective exercise specialist from the US.
Matt has also written a book titled The Athlete in the Game of Life (2021).
In the book, Matt inspires readers to strengthen their daily lives with positive outlooks and helpful exercise regimes.
During the workshop, Matt is set to discuss chronic pain, which in turn can lead to loneliness.
This creates an immersive, informative, and helpful experience to visitors and listeners.
Speaking exclusively to DESIblitz, Sukhvinder divulged presenting her workshop with Matt by her side.
She said: “As this is my very first workshop, I feel incredibly privileged and honoured that Matt reached out all the way from the USA to collaborate.
“I’m very excited about this project, and while I’m undoubtedly a little nervous as I want everything to run smoothly, my primary emotion is enthusiasm.
“I’m particularly delighted to be working with Matt again, especially since we recently collaborated on an interview for my published book.
“I find his work incredibly compelling, specifically his focus on mental health through a physical lens, exploring how exercise can strengthen the mind.
“This approach aligns perfectly with my own passion: helping people address feelings of chronic loneliness.
“One of the key methods I advocate is getting outdoors and engaging with others through activity and exercise, making our combined message very complementary.”
Detailing what the workshop will entail, Sukhvinder Kaur explained:
“We have a fantastic, diverse lineup of three speakers, each sharing their unique journey – an ADHD coach who will share her personal experiences and a speaker discussing her methods for navigating culture-related trauma and domestic violence.
“There will also be a presenter who will share various creative and artistic approaches to mental well-being.
“These talks will be followed by a wonderful interactive session where attendees will create something of their own to take away.
“We will conclude with Matt leading the group through practical exercises designed to strengthen mental health.”
“For our guests, hot drinks and refreshments will be available for purchase.
“We will also be offering our books at half price, with all proceeds from my book being donated to local mental health charities.
“The entire workshop is scheduled to last approximately two hours.”
Regarding the goals for the workshop, Sukhvinder concluded:
“Our primary goal for this workshop is to engage with the community as mental health advocates, empowering them to discover actionable ways to work on their own mental well-being.
“Ultimately, we want to deliver a message of hope and solidarity – to remind people they are not alone, regardless of their current situation.
“We want to show that there are people who genuinely care and want to see them thrive and to help them feel empowered, knowing that even in the darkest of times, there is always a beacon of light: a reminder that hope exists.
“We are optimistic that the success of this first event will lay the foundation for future workshops, allowing us to continue this important work with the wonderful people in our local areas.”
The workshop will be held at House of Leyla, 147 Milton Road, Gravesend, Kent, DA12 2RG, on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 3 pm.
