"Let’s come together and stand by Punjab."
Sonam Bajwa has shared a heartfelt appeal on Instagram, urging people to support those affected by the devastating floods currently impacting Punjab and northern India.
Posting a carousel of images from the flood-hit areas, she expressed her deep concern while highlighting the resilience and unity of the Punjabi community in times of crisis.
She wrote: “In these difficult times, my heart goes out to Punjab and everyone affected by the floods.
“The images and stories coming from there are truly heartbreaking, but what keeps me hopeful is the spirit of unity and resilience that Punjab has always shown.”
The actress also confirmed her own contribution to relief efforts, adding:
“I am doing my part to help by donating to organisations actively working on ground as rescue teams, and I humbly urge you to do yours too.
“Every contribution, no matter how small, can make a difference in someone’s life right now.
“Let’s come together and stand by Punjab in this crucial time.”
Punjab has been battered by days of torrential rain, leaving many regions submerged.
The India Meteorological Department has issued red alerts for Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
In Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami described the situation as “crucial”, revealing that residents from rain-damaged homes were being moved to safer locations as mudslides and flooding continued.
Himachal Pradesh has also been severely impacted, with tragic loss of life reported in Chamba during the annual Manimahesh Yatra pilgrimage, which was later suspended due to worsening weather.
As communities struggle to cope, the Punjabi film industry has stepped in to show support.
The makers of Nikka Zaildar 4, starring Sonam Bajwa and Ammy Virk, announced the film’s postponement.
Originally set to release on September 12, the film will now arrive on October 21.
The decision was described as an act of solidarity with flood victims.
In a statement, producers White Hill Studios shared:
“The entire team of Nikka Zaildar 4 has decided to postpone the release of the film to 21st October 2025 due to the unforeseen severe flood situation in several areas of Punjab.
“We believe that it is our duty to stand by the people of Punjab during these tough times.”
They added that the cast and crew would soon visit affected areas with aid.
“The Nikka Zaildar 4 team has decided to provide trucks full of rations and other necessary items to the people at the earliest. We stand with Punjab.”
Directed by Simerjit Singh and written by Jagdeep Sidhu, Nikka Zaildar 4 continues the hugely popular romantic-comedy franchise that began in 2016.
Alongside Bajwa and Virk, the cast includes Nirmal Rishi, Sonia Kour, Nisha Bano, Sukhi Chahal, Gurmeet Saajan, Gurdial Paras and Anita Devgan.
The film tells the story of a Punjabi man whose disinterest in wrestling changes when he falls in love with a passionate Haryanvi wrestler.
Beyond cinema, Sonam Bajwa remains one of Punjabi cinema’s biggest stars.
Her recent Hindi debut in Housefull 5 showcased her versatility, adding to an impressive career across Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu films.
But for now, her focus is firmly on solidarity.
As floods devastate parts of her home state, her words remind fans that even small gestures of support can make a vital difference.
