Indian Couture Designer, Sulakshana Monga arrived in UK on Thursday 28th May, 2015 to unveil her latest collection for Autumn/Winter called ‘Intrinsic Beauty’.
The preview launch took place at the prestigious Edgbaston Cricket Stadium in Birmingham, hosted by radio presenter Anushka Arora.
This was followed by a three day Trunk Show at Soltee’s UK flagship store on Soho Road, which is run by Soltee UK founders, Bilkis Siddat, Khadijha Tai and Salma Patel.
This unique opportunity gave clients and customers the chance to engage with the renowned designer herself for one to one bridal consultations and more.
Sulakshana has already established herself globally with her hit fusion designs incorporating western and eastern elements within each garment.
With a stealthy list of celebrity clientele including Bollywood stars, Deepika Padukone, Sunny Leone and Ileana D’Cruz; plus endless orders from Dubai to Switzerland, it is clear to see, Sulakshana has catered to all differing cultures and women, on all sides of the globe.
With her recent success at the Amazon India Fashion Week as well as the wide welcome she received in the UK, Sulakshana exclaimed:
“I’m overwhelmed by the amazing response the collection has had. We had a phenomenal response when we presented the collection in India recently and to see the same reaction here is wonderful.
“The collection, we feel, defines style and elegance. The beauty of it is that there are colours, prints and silhouettes to suit all shapes and sizes.”
Also speaking about the launch night was Khadijha Tai, Co-Founder, Soltee UK, who added:

Soltee’s Autumn/Winter 2015 collection labelled ‘Intrinsic Beauty’ is inherently beautiful and elegant; and Solakshana’s designs will undoubtedly serve for more than just the upcoming seasons.
The garments are simple yet bold, with intricate details that show off the exclusive Sulakshana personal touch.
The spectacular collection sees autumnal and winter themes run throughout. Rich oranges, greens and pink hues compliment the natural changes of the season. Even enticing reds have been implemented as a nod towards the more traditional individual.
There is definitely a uniqueness to each outfit, and this explains why Sulakshana is so sought after as one of the top fashion designers of India.
Substituting seasonal trends in support of experimentation with aesthetics has led to Sulakshana being awarded a multitude of coveted accolades including the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Award in the field of Art (2015) and the Bharat Gaurav Award (2014).
It is evident Sulakshana has a confidence which is admirable as she knows what the fashion savvy Desi or even non Desi individuals are looking for when it comes to Bridal or even occasion wear couture.
She boldly states, ‘As you can see there are no Christmas trees here!’, alluding to the heavily embroidered and colourful garments available with the heavy beadwork and blingy embellishments which were more mainstream 10 years ago, in regards to Indian Bridal and occasion wear.
Instead, Sulakshana expertly steers us clear of any fashion faux pas and presents a standout bespoke alternative instead.
After speaking to several fans at the Trunk Shows, many maintained that her designs were ‘breathtakingly fresh’ and ‘something which you know someone won’t also be wearing at a same venue’.
Amongst the hubbub of women swarming and lusting over the outfits, there were also discussions on the prices being reasonable despite also being high fashion couture.
Sulakshana specialises in couture which is versatile and wearable as opposed to many high fashion designs which are more suitable for the catwalk rather than the everyday woman.
Whilst conversing with Sulakshana, she reiterated that not every woman is five feet nine inches and a size eight. She maintained that her collection caters to all sizes and shapes as all women have different body shapes even if two women are the same size.
Nonetheless, her styles are undeniable competition for other designers in India and globally, as she always delivers something distinctive and inimitable. And this is vital for her growing reputation as a gifted and successful designer.
