Sharmin Segal addresses 'Heeramandi' Criticism - F

"Sometimes I wish I looked like Bella Hadid."

Sharmin Segal discussed her body image and how she felt about it.

The actress received notability for playing Alamzeb in Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar (2024).

Sharmin said: “I love my body but there are days when I’m not happy with the way I look.

“I feel bloated sometimes. If I eat french fries for dinner, I feel bloated the very next day.

“Coming to terms with how you look is a slow process because your body keeps changing.

“Coming to terms with those changes that are out of our control and still be comfortable with yourself and work towards being the best version of yourself that makes you happy is tough.

“Sometimes you may work out every day but that might not show on your body.

“But you need to be okay with putting in that effort knowing that it may not show.

“And yes, sometimes I wish I looked like Bella Hadid.”

Sharmin Segal went on to highlight the bodily pressures that intertwine with being a public figure.

She stated: “Your mindset has to keep evolving along with it.

“Today, I’m a lot more comfortable within that change in my mindset. I know that my body will keep changing.

“At the end of the day, we’re all women. We go through periods and pregnancy and those things have a physical impact on our bodies.

“When you’re accepting of who you are as a person and how you look, that comes out through the authenticity of your craft.

“The audience judging you for how you look has an impact on your work.

“It’s sad that it comes in the way of your craft but that’s changing now for the better.”

Sharmin Segal was brutally trolled for her performance in Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, which premiered on Netflix on May 1, 2024.

In June 2024, Sharmin addressed the criticism.

She said: “Every creative person creates for an audience.

“They are a very important part in a creator’s journey, in a creator’s life because they also help you grow.”

“With negativity comes positivity. You have to take it all in, figure it out accordingly, and what resonates with you and what doesn’t resonate with you.

“I did put in a lot of hard work and at the end of the day, I gave it my all.

“I can’t suddenly fixate on somebody that has taken their time out to write negative things about me.

“If it’s constructive, then yes I am very open to listening to it.”
