After much speculation and rumour, it has been confirmed that the new host of the Hindi version of the popular international show TED Talks will be Bollywood star, Shahrukh Khan.
New TV quiz show, TED Talks India: Nayi Soch is the first Hindi TV talk show created in partnership with TED Talks.
Nayi Soch translates to ‘new thinking’. The talk show is devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks.
TED stands for technology, entertainment and design. However, a lot more topics, from science to business to global issues are covered.
The new talk show is set to launch this summer 2017 on Star Plus.
However, a pilot episode has already been filmed and said to feature female and male speakers, and also a musical performance.
Shahrukh role as the host of TED Talks India: Nayi Soch will involve speaking, introducing and engaging with speakers before and after talks.
When talking about the new talk show in a press release for the organisation, Shahrukh mentions how he hopes to change society.
Shahrukh says: “I believe ‘TED Talks India-Nayi Soch’ will inspire many minds across India.
“It is a concept I connected with instantly as I believe that the media is perhaps the single most powerful vehicle to inspire change.”
He adds: “I am looking forward to working with TED and Star India and truly hope that together we are able [to] inspire young minds across India and the world.”

TED Talks India: Nayi Soch will be brought to you by Star India. The Chairman and CEO of Star India, Uday Shankar, is looking forward to having Shahrukh’s personality shine through.

The influential platform for speakers adds that TED Talks India: Nayi Soch is also the first collaboration with a megastar and network on a TV series, not in the English language.
Executive producer at TED Juliet Blake says: “The size of Star TV’s audience, with more than 650 million viewers, makes this a significant milestone in TED’s ongoing effort to bring big ideas to curious minds.”
Previous winners of the annual TED prize of $1 million (£804,900) include Sugata Mitra (2013) and Raj Punjabi (2017).
