"I obviously didn’t have the courage to go ahead and do it.”

Samantha Ruth Prabhu has opened up about her struggles following her divorce and health diagnosis.

The actress described her post-divorce phase and battle with myositis as a “never-ending abyss”, adding that this period pushed her to her mental and emotional limits.

In 2021, Samantha announced her separation from Naga Chaitanya.

At statement at the time read: “To all our well-wishers.

“After much deliberation and thought, Chay and I have decided to part ways as husband and wife to pursue our own paths.

“We are fortunate to have a friendship of over a decade that was the very core of our relationship which we believe will always hold a special bond between us.

“We request our fans, well-wishers and the media to support us during the difficult time and give us the privacy we need to move on.

“Thanking you for your support.”

A year later, she revealed her diagnosis of myositis, a rare autoimmune disease.

Samantha recalled: “I remember once I actually went to the point where I thought like, ‘enough, I can’t do this anymore’.

“I had the worst possible thoughts. I obviously didn’t have the courage to go ahead and do it.”

Explaining what she was feeling, Samantha continued:

“It was hard for a year. There was nothing that was working, there were no answers being given.

“I obviously chickened out because you need to have lots of guts to act upon these thoughts.

“So I was like, ‘I better find a way to build some kind of resilience and start thinking of other things I can do with my life’.”

The actress reflected on what the phase taught her:

“Now, when people say they are going through a hard time, I actually tell them to go through it.”

“There is always a lesson to learn from it and light at the end of the tunnel. It is not my success that taught me a lesson, but my failures and hardships.”

After this dark chapter, Samantha Ruth Prabhu returned to the screen with the hit song ‘Oo Antava’ in Pushpa.

She later appeared in Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal alongside Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara.

However, her recent projects – Yashoda, Shaakuntalam, and Kushi – failed at the box office.

Despite these setbacks, Samantha’s story has resonated with fans. Her honesty about mental health, resilience, and the pressures of fame shows why she remains a figure of strength in the industry.
