Former EastEnders actress Rukku Nahar made a splash when she was pictured hand in hand with a controversial Love Island star.

Rukku is best known for playing Habiba Ahmed in the long-running BBC soap.

She was at the UK premiere of Venom: The Last Dance with Michael Griffiths, who was on season five of the dating reality show.

The pair appeared loved up as they posed on the red carpet.

Rukku stunned in a floral print dress with a knee-high slit which she paired with classic black heels.

Meanwhile, Michael looked dapper in a neutral fit which he accessorised with a gold chain.

On Love Island, Michael made waves when his love triangle with Amber Gill and Joanna Chimonides sparked one of the series’ most memorable storylines.

His decision to switch his affections from Amber to Joanna stirred controversy and divided fans.

One of the standout moments was when Michael branded Amber “childish”.

His time on Love Island opened many doors for Michael in the entertainment world, leading him to new opportunities such as MTV’s Celebrity Ex On The Beach in 2020.

On the show, Michael had a whirlwind romance with ex-Love Island contestant Ellie Brown.

But just a few months after confirming their relationship, Michael and Ellie called it quits.

In recent years, Michael has kept a lower profile but seems to have found happiness with Rukku who’s carved out a successful career in her own right.

The actress joined EastEnders in 2019 as Habiba and during her time on the show, Rukku tackled a variety of intense storylines such as her affair with boss Adam Bateman.

Habiba exited Albert Square in 2020 after her boyfriend Jags Panesar (Amar Adatia) was arrested and imprisoned.

It was later revealed that Habiba was pregnant with Jags’ child and she delivered a baby boy off-screen, with her sister Iqra (Priya Davdra) breaking the news before she also left Walford.

After leaving the soap, Rukku Nahar branched out into new roles, appearing in Flatmates and The Buckingham Murders.

Rukku described stepping away from the soap as the “end of a chapter”, but hinted that she was “underused” and had a “disappointing” exit.

On X, she liked a series of tweets that discussed her exit.

Rukku appeared to agree with a fan who tweeted:

“Wait, was that really Habiba’s exit? God, what a disappointment. I love Rukku Nahar. Habiba had so much unexplored potential.”

Another added: “Nahh, Habiba’s character was so underused, defo deserved more.”

Rukku and Michael’s red carpet display was their first public outing together.

Although there are no pictures of them together on each other’s respective Instagram profiles, they have been commenting on each other’s posts.
