Ranveer initially tried to control his emotions.
Actor Ranveer Singh broke down whilst hosting the new game show The Big Picture on Colors TV.
On the first episode that aired on October 16, 2021, Ranveer was visibly emotional upon hearing the story of one of the contestants.
The actor welcomed contestant Abhay Singh from Gorakhpur, who talked about how his father died when he was twelve.
Abhay joined Ranveer on the stage before saying:
“My father died when I was in Class 7.
“I could not understand what was happening then, I was so young.
“I had never experienced death until then.
“I could not have cried in front of my family and no one would have understood even if I did.
“My mother has worked so hard.
“We did not have enough money at home that all my siblings could be sent to school.”
Abhay also said that after the death of his father, the responsibility of the house fell on his shoulders.
He is currently teaching children and wants to use his game show winnings to contribute to his younger sister’s wedding.
Upon hearing Abhay’s story, Ranveer initially tried to control his emotions but broke down and cried at the end.

Ranveer then spoke to Abhay’s family over a video call.
With tears in his eyes, Ranveer paid Abhay’s family his respects for their struggle.
A teaser clip ahead of The Big Picture episode’s premiere was shared on social media.
Other clips included in the teaser included the Gully Boy actor sharing lighter moments with the contestant.
Ranveer praised Abhay’s moustache, which reminded the actor of his own look in the romance-musical film Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela.
Ranveer also revealed his plans to have a baby with his wife Deepika Padukone in the next 2-3 years.
Speaking to the contestant, Ranveer said:
“As you guys know I am married and may have kids in the next two or three years.
“Bro, your sister-in-law was such a cute baby.”
“I see her baby photos every day and tell her ‘give me one baby like this one, my life will be set’.”
Ranveer added: “I am shortlisting names. Would you mind if I take ‘Shaurya’ from you?”
The Big Picture is a game show in which contestants have to answer questions based on pictures shown to them.
Karishma Toor, a constable from Sonipat, became the first contestant to play the game. She left with Rs. 20 lakh (£19,000).
