“It will trace the entire journey of Raj Kundra"
It is reported that Raj Kundra’s arrest in a porn case will be turned into a film.
The businessman will also reportedly make his acting debut in the film, playing himself.
According to reports, the film will present the intense experiences that Raj went through during his time in India’s Arthur Road Jail following his arrest for allegedly producing and distributing pornographic films.
A source told Pinkvilla that the makers are in the final stages.
The source said: “The film will present an account of all that Raj Kundra experienced through his tenure in one of the most overcrowded jails – Arthur Road Jail.
“The director’s name has been kept under wraps for now, but Raj Kundra will be creatively involved in all aspects – from production to script.”
The film is believed to go on floors soon.
The source continued: “It will trace the entire journey of Raj Kundra – from the first reports of the allegations to the media reporting, time spent in jail to the bail.
“It’s more of a story from Kundra and family’s point of view.”
Raj Kundra was arrested in July 2021 for allegedly distributing and producing adult films.
The arrest was made by the Mumbai Crime Branch.
The case against Raj was registered at the Malwani police station on February 4, 2021, under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, Information Technology Act, and Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.
The Mumbai Police identified Raj as the main conspirator in this case.
During his time in prison, a cyber police charge sheet in Mumbai claimed that the adult films were filmed in five-star hotels across India, which were then distributed by OTT platforms.
The 450-page charge sheet also named Suwajit Chowdhary of Banana Prime OTT and Umesh Kamath, one of Raj Kundra’s staff members.
They allegedly produced a web series called Prem Paglani and other pornographic content and uploaded it to the streaming platform.
Police alleged that Raj filmed pornography with the likes of Poonam Pandey and Sherlyn Chopra.
Police claimed that Poonam Pandey developed her own mobile app and shot explicit videos with the help of Raj Kundra’s company.
Through her app, the videos were uploaded and distributed.
According to the cyber police charge sheet, Raj Kundra’s company also shot pornographic videos with Sherlyn Chopra.
Following imprisonment in Mumbai’s Arthur Road Jail, Raj Kundra was granted bail after being required to provide a surety amount of Rs 50,000 (£470).
In August 2022, Raj Kundra filed a plea seeking discharge in the porn racket case. He was ultimately given bail in September 2021.
