Rahat Fateh Ali Khan will be performing at a concert in Dhaka dubbed ‘Echoes of Revolution’.

The concert is set to take place on December 21, 2024, at the Bangladesh Army Stadium and is aimed at raising funds for the July Shaheed Smrity Foundation.

The foundation supports the families of martyrs and those injured during the July revolution.

This event promises to be a significant musical gathering, with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan performing alongside prominent Bangladeshi bands and artists.

The concert is being organised by Spirits of July, a platform created by Dhaka University students, with the backing of Prime Bank.

The announcement was made at a press conference held at Dhaka University’s Madhur Canteen, where the organisers provided details about the event.

At the press conference, several key members of Spirits of July spoke.

This includes Hasan Mahmud Rizvi, Sadekur Rahman Sunny, Mohammad Jafor Ali and Wahid-Uz-Zaman.

Spirits of July expressed their commitment to standing in solidarity with the families affected by the July revolution.

They announced that all proceeds from the concert would go to the July Shaheed Smrity Foundation.

The event will also feature performances from Artcell, Chirkutt, Ashes, and Aftermath, as well as rap artists Sezan and Hannan.

In addition to the music performances, attendees can look forward to a graffiti exhibition.

There will also be the Mugdha Water Zone, which promises to add an interactive element to the event.

On Rahat’s participation, a statement read:

“A contract was signed with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan on Thursday, November 28.”

“He decided to perform at our concert without remuneration, and the amount saved from his performance will also be donated to the families of the martyrs and injured.”

In a further step towards ensuring transparency, an advisory board has been established to oversee the financial aspects of the event.

The board includes faculty members from Dhaka University and other respected figures, who will ensure that the funds are properly managed and distributed.

Tickets for the concert will go on sale in early December 2024.

While prices have not yet been finalised, organisers confirmed that there will be three categories of tickets available to cater to different attendees.

This concert promises not only to be a powerful musical experience but also a significant step toward supporting needy families.
