Priyamani addresses Marriage Criticisms

Priyamani addressed the criticism regarding her interfaith marriage to Mustafa Raj. The couple tied the knot in 2017.

"We will walk the path together."

Priyamani addressed the criticism about her marriage to Mustafa Raj.

The actress married Mustafa – an events organiser – in August 2017.

However, the relationship has often been criticised due to the fact that it is an interfaith marriage.

Breaking silence on the negative comments, Priyamani said:

“To be honest, it did affect me. Not only me per say, but my family also, especially my father and mother.

“But I have to say my husband stood by me as a rock.

“He said, ‘Look whatever happens, I will let everything come to me first. But all I would say is hold my hand and be with me through every step’.

“Because right at the time we were seeing each other, I faced a lot of rumours.

“I had told him the same thing, stand by me and trust me.

“Because we have taken the step together and decided to spend the rest of our lives.

“So come hail, come storm come sunshine, we will walk the path together.

“I am very happy that I got such an understanding and strong partner.

“He knows how to tackle everything.

“It did upset me but at that time I wasn’t in Mumbai, I was in Bangalore with my husband.

“We took care of everything and didn’t let it hinder my parents also.

“We just asked them to not bother much because it’s us at the end of the day.

“Their blessings and prayers have taken us a long way.”

Priyamani has previously spoken about being body-shamed as well.

She stated: “Honestly speaking, my weight did go up to 65 kgs, I did look bigger than what I am right now.

“So a lot of people have said, ‘You look fat’, you look big’, and right now people are saying, ‘You’re looking too thin, we liked you when you were fat’.

“I mean, make up your mind.

“Now I can’t help it I am like this. But all I’m saying that being on the bigger side or the smaller side is each person to themselves.

“Why do you want to body shame people?”

The actress is known for her roles in Jawan (2023) and Article 370 (2024).

On the work front, Priyamani was last seen as Saira Rahim in Maidaan (2024).

Released on April 10, 2024, the film has currently earned over Rs. 29 crores (£27 million) at the box office.
