Mukhtar's disappearance has been lodged with the Canadian police.

It has been reported on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, that PIA hostess Fareeha Mukhtar, aged 34, from Sialkot, has gone missing in Toronto, Canada.

She was accused of smuggling currency and mobile phones to other nations which saw her suspended from all international flights in 2015.

This included her allegedly smuggling at Heathrow Airport.

She and four other air hostesses and stewards were not allowed to operate the flight to Karachi after their entire luggage was searched.

Mukhtar and the others were eventually allowed to return the next day but she was banned from airline services.

It was heard that Mukhtar boarded PIA flight PK-789 on September 15, 2018, from Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport.

The flight was to Toronto and she was supposed to return to Lahore on PIA’s PK-782 flight on the same day, but never boarded the plane.

Mukhtar was suspended as soon as she went missing and an inquiry is being held against her.

PIA officials have initiated a probe over the matter of how she managed to board the flight whilst being banned from travelling.

Spokesperson Athar Awan said that Mukhtar’s disappearance has been lodged with the Canadian police.

He said: “A missing report has been lodged with the Canadian police and an investigation is underway regarding the air hostess’ disappearance.”

According to sources, Mukhtar had taken political asylum in Canada on September 11, 2018, and managed to get onto the flight using political influence.

When asked about Mukhtar’s supposed political asylum, Awan said that he had no information on that matter.

He added: “An inquiry into the matter has been ordered and the PIA is pursuing the matter with Canadian authorities.”

Because of the incident, the Pakistani airline company have been fined £6,000 (Rs. 5.7 Lakhs).

Authorities have warned the Canadian police about the incident and have also begun an inquiry against the national air carrier.

PIA has been in the news for quite a while, mainly due to negative reasons.

From flight delays to illegal appointments, the airline has lost its reputation and name.

For example, a flight which takes two hours and people are waiting at the airport for over six hours is just one case.

Fareeha Mukhtar has had previous allegations against her regarding falsified documents that she allegedly produced.

According to unnamed sources, Mukhtar was inducted into the PIA on the basis of a fake Bachelors degree.

In 2014, she was given a show-cause notice for submitting fraudulent educational documents.
