"I’m afraid to say with great respect, you’re fired."

Dr Paul Midha was one of the three candidates to narrowly miss out on The Apprentice final.

The 29-year-old dental practice owner made it to the iconic interviews round along with Flo Edwards, Phil Turner, Rachel Woolford and Tre Lowe.

Every year, the interview round sees some of Lord Alan Sugar’s trusted aides scrutinise the candidates’ business plans and CVs.

These include Mike Soutar, Linda Plant and Claudine Collins.

Fan favourite Claude Littner also returns for the iconic round.

It’s an episode that has been the downfall of many a candidate, as they struggle to back their business plan when questioned about every last detail.

Paul Midha’s business plan aimed to “revolutionise the healthcare attire market”.

But it was revealed that he was not willing to share the whole business with Lord Sugar.

Claude also told Paul that he is pitching “the wrong business”, opting to move away from dentistry, an industry he is an expert in.

Back in the boardroom, Lord Sugar did not seem too keen on Tre’s wellness business idea, telling him:

“Tre, I’ve always said to people in this process that you will learn as you go along, and that includes me. And I have learnt that you are a good bloke.

“Your business is not up my alley mate, and so it is with sincere regret. You’re Fired!”

Lord Sugar then turned to Flo, who had been a favourite to reach the final.

Unfortunately, his comments were not good news for her, saying:

“Flo, I think you’ve underestimated the difficulty it’s going to be in starting from scratch.

“It is going to be hard, and I’m leaning towards Flo saying I’m going to have to let you go.”

“Sorry about that. And I do wish you very, very well. But Flo, you’re fired.”

Paul had standout performances in the TV selling task and the Formula-E task.

However, Paul’s unwillingness to share his whole business with Lord Sugar proved to be his downfall.

Lord Sugar told Paul: “Paul, I wish you well.

“But unfortunately, because you are not willing to share the whole business with me, I’m afraid to say with great respect, you’re fired.”

The firings meant Phil Turner and Rachel Woolford would compete for Lord Sugar’s £250,000 investment in the final.

The winner of The Apprentice series 18 will be announced during the finale on April 18, 2024, on BBC One.
