"I am guilty of listening to that noise."

Parineeti Chopra admitted that she made wrong choices in her career.

The actress began her career with Ladies vs Ricky Bahl (2011).

She has since gone on to become one of the most acclaimed Bollywood performers.

Detailing her career regrets, the star said:

“I think I heard a lot of wrong advice and I think I did a lot of films which were perceived to be the correct thing to do, to be commercial, to be bankable, to be a sellable actor but were not necessarily the right fit for me.

“In fact, I am guilty of listening to that noise and succumbing to that.

“I didn’t actually hold my own. If I had stuck to my own and if I had listened to my gut instinct, I would have probably made lesser mistakes.

“I used to think that I don’t know anything about this industry.

“I need to listen to these people and I went ahead and did it. But that’s not the right way.

“All those ups and downs have happened because I was trying and testing.

“All I need is directors and producers to see that same talent, to see that I am the same actor that I always was, not judge me by those decisions and give me work, and give me that opportunity.

“I hope my mistakes are not judged and I hope that I am seen beyond them and my talent is believed in and I get that work again.”

Parineeti Chopra also spoke about missing opportunities due to her physical appearance.

She explained: “For the past years, I have hardly been seen on red carpets.

“I have not done many brand shoots. I have not been seen around because I was looking like this.

“I am still looking like this and I have still not lost the weight and I am still not looking like myself.

“But I did not care. That is the kind of actor I am.

“People like Vidya Balan, they inspire me when they do it for The Dirty Picture.

“Even in Hollywood, actors transform themselves and lose everything.

“That is the kind of actor I am. I hope people see that.”

On the work front, Parineeti was last seen in Amar Singh Chamkila.

Directed by Imtiaz Ali, the film was released on Netflix on April 12, 2024.

In the film, Parineeti Chopra starred as Chamkila’s wife Amarjot.
