she has reached a new level of versatility
Bollywood actress Nushrat Bharucha has played a variety of roles throughout her career.
Now, she is due to take on a new challenge in Raaj Shaandilyaa’s film Janhit Mein Jaari.
In the film, Bharucha will assume the role of a condom sales executive, according to reports.
Talking about the character, Shaandilyaa said that she finds a job as a sales and promotions executive at a condom manufacturing company.
Speaking with ETimes, the filmmaker said:
“Nushrat’s character hails from a small town. She is a well-educated and progressive woman.
“She’s looking for a job and finds one where she’s placed as a sales and promotions executive at a condom manufacturing company.
“In the film, Nushrat hops between selling condoms at medical stress and also runs promotions in different areas of the locality.
“The film also focuses on the repercussions she faces in her personal life due to her profession, which is rare for a woman.”
In a previous interview, Nushrat Bharucha expressed concerns over being cast in multiple similar roles in Bollywood.
However, she has reached a new level of versatility with this new character.
Shooting for Janhit Mein Jaari was meant to begin in April 2021. However, due to India’s Covid-19 crisis, the shoot has been delayed.
Filmmakers expect to begin shooting for the film in August 2021, depending on the situation of the pandemic.
Alongside Nushrat Bharucha, Janhit Mein Jaari also stars Amyra Dastur and Ravi Kishan.
This is the second time that Bharucha is collaborating on a project with Raaj Shaandilyaa.
He also directed Dream Girl, which featured Bharucha alongside Ayushmann Khurrana.
However, Nushrat Bharucha is not the only actress breaking barriers with such versatile roles.
Actress Rakul Preet Singh is due to star in a new film as a condom tester.
The film is yet to be titled and will be directed by Tejas Deoskar.
According to Deoskar, Rakul Preet Singh was “thrilled” when asked to star in the film.
He said: “Even interestingly, Rakul was thrilled when she was approached for the film.
“She heard the narration and immediately agreed to do it.”
The director also elaborated on why she was chosen for the role, saying:
“For this one, I always believed Rakul was the best suited for the character.
“She brings freshness to every role that she portrays and with a sensitive, thought-provoking subject like this, she was our first choice.”
