According to reports, notorious gangster Goldy Brar has been shot dead in the United States.
Several Indian media outlets said the shooting happened on April 30, 2024, in Fairmont and Holt Avenue, California.
Brar and one of his aides were standing outside a property when they were attacked by unknown assailants.
The attackers opened fire and fled the scene.
Both men were taken to hospital and one died due to their injuries.
According to reports, Brar was the fatality. However, US authorities are yet to comment on the shooting.
It is believed to have been a case of gang rivalry, with Arsh Dalla and Lakhbir claiming responsibility for the attack, citing longstanding animosity.
The rivalry between the gangs is said to have escalated after Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead in Mansa, Punjab, on May 29, 2022.
After the singer’s death, Lawrence Bishnoi and his gang claimed responsibility.
But Goldy Brar later admitted to the crime in an interview. During the interview, he said Sidhu’s alleged role in the killing of Bishnoi’s associate Vicky Midukhera, compelled him to carry out the crime.
Brar confessed to masterminding the murder and purportedly dispatched six gunmen from Haryana and Punjab to execute the plan.
In December 2022, there were claims that Brar had been detained in the United States.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann stated that he was detained.
However, questions were raised about whether Brar had actually been arrested.
This was mainly due to a lack of proof given by the Punjab government as well as the absence of any confirmation from the US authorities.
Tony Botti, Public Information Officer at the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said that he is not aware of any operation or incident involving any alleged arrest of an Indian fugitive in the last few weeks, nor was anyone by the name of Satinderjit Singh, Satvinder Singh or Goldy Brar being held in their local jail.
In the past, Goldy Brar has allegedly threatened Indian celebrities.
In June 2023, Yo Yo Honey Singh has filed a complaint with the Delhi Police after he allegedly received several death threats from gangster Goldy Brar.
The rapper also approached Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora to seek security.
According to police, Honey Singh received threats via phone calls and voice notes.
Reacting to the alleged threats, Honey Singh said:
“I am scared, my entire family is scared. Who isn’t scared of death?”
“This is the first time I have got such a threat. I have got a lot of love from people.
“My staff and I have got calls from international numbers as well as voice notes from someone claiming to be Goldy Brar.
“I have given the Commissioner all the evidence. I have requested him to give me security and get the matter investigated. I am really scattered right now.”
Honey Singh later said: “I have received phone calls from persons claiming to be Goldy Brar and his gang members.
“The calls were also received by my staff.
“I have requested Commissioner Saab to provide me security and investigate the matter.”
