"I can't wait to meet these local food heroes."

Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain lands her very own cooking show on the BBC. The show, entitled British Food Adventure, is due to air in the summer of 2017.

It aims to explore the “quirky and clever” side of British food. The programme shows Nadiya Hussain visiting various areas across Britain.

Airing on BBC Two, British Food Adventure will have eight episodes, each focusing on a particular area in the UK.

After sampling some of the finest dishes from each area, she will recreate them in her kitchen. No doubt she will add in a few delightful twists to make them truly unique.

Speaking about British Food Adventure, Nadiya says: “Our country’s regional cuisine is much more than tried and tested traditional dishes – there are quirky and clever food producers out there who are reinventing British food in unique and exciting ways.

“I can’t wait to meet these local food heroes, to find inspiration in the most unusual food stories and unlikely ingredients and then come up with some brand new recipes in the kitchen, adding my own special twist.”

Nadiya won the Great British Bake Off in 2015. Since then, her culinary career has gone from strength to strength.

Only last year, 2016, she signed a deal with the BBC. Director of BBC content, Charlotte Moore said at the time:

“She has a refreshingly authentic voice, great warmth and charisma and a natural ability to connect with audiences. I’m really looking forward to exploring new territories and perspectives with her.”

The signing meant she would continue to work on The One Show and “develop other exciting programme ideas”. It seems British Food Adventure is one of those brilliant ideas.

The Great British Bake Off winner has also had great experience of fronting her own TV programmes. In August 2016, she presented her first TV show, The Chronicles of Nadiya. During the programme, Nadiya visited Bangladesh to retrace both her family and culinary roots.

Not forgetting the release of a cookbook and making Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday cake, 2016 was truly a triumphant year for Nadiya.

Now with the upcoming launch of British Food Adventure, 2017 is sure to be another fantastic year for her.

DESIblitz wishes Nadiya success with her latest venture in British Food Adventure.
