"Only my fans truly understand it."
Nadia Khan and Atiqa Odho have responded to Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar’s biting remarks, but this time with restraint.
The veteran actors opted for subtle taunts instead of outright confrontation, addressing his criticism while keeping their tone relatively mild.
Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar, known for his controversial statements, had earlier dismissed them, saying:
“They can never be happy until the Day of Judgment.”
In the same interview, he labelled Nadia Khan as a “total failure” and claimed she “knows nothing” about acting.
He acknowledged Atiqa Odho and Marina Khan for their excellence but made sure to underline his disapproval of Nadia’s career.
Reacting to these remarks, Nadia Khan stressed the importance of her long-standing bond with the audience she has served.
She said: “I speak in a language that everyone understands. My relationship with my fans and their families has endured.”
The actress added: “I have a language of love, and only my fans truly understand it with sincerity.”
In a light-hearted shift, she joked: “And here we are, three beauties, doing our duties in English today.”
Atiqa Odho also responded, albeit with humour, noting that she has actually been enjoying Khalil-ur-Rehman’s stylistic sentences lately.
She admitted:
“This time I am enjoying his sentences, which are quite impactful and also improve my Urdu.”
“I have always had language issues, which I admit because I have studied in English medium schools, so I really want to see such a work which also teaches us or improves our language.
“I am learning it, to be honest, it is important to have a command of Urdu if we are working on a project which requires a grip on the language, so I would love to learn Urdu.”
Her comments struck a balance between acknowledgement and playful teasing, while still turning his criticism into a learning opportunity.
Meanwhile, Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar appeared on Sheikh Qasim’s YouTube channel, where he discussed casting choices for Main Manto Nahi Hoon.
He revealed that Sajal Aly was chosen for the character Mehmal instead of Maya Ali, primarily due to suitability for the role.
He said: “Sajal looks like a student, and that was essential. We needed someone youthful to embody that presence.
“Mehwish Hayat was never a choice for this role, though I had heard Maya Ali’s name before.”
Explaining his admiration, Khalil remarked: “I wanted to work with Sajal Aly because she is truly an amazing and gifted actor.”
This exchange between actors and the writer has reignited conversations online, with fans weighing in on both sides of the dispute.
