"Is this what Pakistani dramas have stooped to?"

Meri Bahuain continues to grab attention online, but this time, the Hum TV drama is trending for all the wrong reasons.

The latest episodes have sparked debate among viewers after two controversial scenes went viral on social media.

Many are calling the content “too much like Indian serials.”

Several are comparing it to Star Plus shows for its exaggerated drama and emotional theatrics.

A user questioned: “Is this what Pakistani dramas have stooped to?”

The family drama features veteran actors Shagufta Ejaz and Babar Ali in lead roles, alongside a cast of younger performers playing their children.

With its mix of household politics, emotional breakdowns, and unpredictable twists, Meri Bahuain has been topping television ratings and gathering millions of YouTube views.

However, the drama’s recent episodes have left viewers divided.

One episode portrayed the dramatic delivery of Fabiha’s mother, who gave birth to a baby boy in her forties.

The sequence showed her being rushed to the hospital in pain before the delivery, which many found unnecessarily intense for a family audience.

A viewer wrote: “People watch these dramas with their children. Why do we need to see such a scene?”

Another commented: “This is what our drama makers used to do in the early 2000s. People stopped watching for a reason.”

In the very next episode, the controversy grew when Fabiha suffered a fall on the same staircase where her mother had earlier gone into labour.

Since Fabiha’s character is also pregnant, the fall scene immediately went viral online.

One viewer joked: “These stairs are like a hospital — first they induced labour, now they’ll cause a miscarriage.”

Another said:

“Why do pregnant women always fall from stairs in our dramas?”

The internet also reacted humorously to the exaggerated acting, with comments like: “She started crying before she even slipped.”

Others defended the show, calling it entertaining despite its over-the-top moments.

A fan wrote: “At least it’s not boring. We need dramas like this once in a while.”

Still, many believe Meri Bahuain is beginning to resemble Indian serials, focusing more on melodrama than meaningful storytelling.

While the criticism continues, the ratings suggest that viewers are still tuning in every week.

With their mix of chaos and emotions, the viral scenes in Meri Bahuain continue to be a trending topic.
