Manjima Mohan opened up about being body-shamed, both online and in-person.
The actress got married to Gautham Karthik in a low-key ceremony in Chennai.
Pictures of the newlyweds went viral and while many fans sent congratulatory messages, some body-shamed Manjima.
Manjima has now revealed that the comments did not just happen online.
Guests at her wedding also commented on her body.
Manjima stated that such comments do not affect her anymore as she is at peace with her body.
She said: “In fact, even at our wedding, a few people commented about it.
“Earlier, it used to bother me, but now I am comfortable with my body and I know that I can lose weight when I want to.”
Manjima went on to say that she is into fitness and can work on her body to get fit if it is for an acting role.
She added: “I’m not sure why it should affect others.”
Manjima Mohan married Gautham Karthik on November 28, 2022.
She wore an embellished white saree paired with gold jewellery, while Gautham Karthik wore a white veshti and shirt.
Several members from the film industry including Mani Ratnam, Gautham Menon, Aishwarya Rajinikanth, Vikram Prabhu, RK Suresh, Sivakumar, Ashok Selvan, Aadhi Pinisetty and Nikki Galrani attended the wedding.
In an Instagram post, Manjima said:
“Three years ago when I was completely lost you came into my life like a guardian angel.
“You changed my perspective on life and helped me realise how blessed I am!!
“Every time I feel like a complete mess, you pull me up. You taught me to accept my flaws and to be myself more often.
“And the best thing I love about you is how much you love me for who I am!
“You are and will always be my favourite everything.”
Manjima began her acting career as a child star in the Malayalam film Kaliyoonjal.
She became the female lead in Oru Vadakkan Selfie, alongside Nivin Pauly.
Manjima later forayed into Tamil cinema with Gautham Vasudev Menon’s Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada.
Manjima began dating Gautham Karthik after sharing screen space in the film Devarattam. The duo made an official announcement about their relationship earlier in October 2022.
The actress will be seen next in October 31st Ladies Night, which is currently in production.
