The man even spent 17 minutes in her room
Police are on the lookout for a man who spent 17 minutes with Akanksha Dubey in her hotel room before her death.
The Bhojpuri actress was shockingly found dead in her hotel room on March 26, 2023.
The 25-year-old was reportedly in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, for the shoot of an upcoming project. Away from filming, she had been staying at the Sarnath Hotel.
A source close to Akanksha said: “It was her first day on the sets of the new film Nayak. The makers were shooting in Varanasi.
“Today around 9 am when her makeup boy went to call her at her hotel, she was found dead in the room. She was shooting alongside Aklesh Verma.”
It is believed that Akanksha took her own life, however, some have claimed foul play was involved.
No suicide note was found at the scene.
Her death was a huge shock as she had posted a video of herself smiling and belly-dancing. However, another live video showed her crying and looking into the camera.
Police have now discovered that a man had dropped Akanksha off at her hotel after a party the night before her body was found.
The man even spent 17 minutes in her room before leaving.
Officers are now working to identify and locate the man.
Hotel staff said the relevant CCTV footage is with the police.
Meanwhile, Akanksha’s mother has claimed that Samar Singh and his brother Sanjay had murdered the actress.
Madhu Dubey said on March 21, Sanjay threatened to kill the actress.
Akanksha later called her mother to inform her of the threat she received.
Akanksha and Samar were rumoured to be dating after the former posted a Valentine’s Day picture of them together.
Police registered a case against Samar and Sanjay.
Santosh Singh, Additional Commissioner of Police, said:
“Two persons namely, Samar Singh, who is associated with Bhojpuri films and Sanjay Singh, are named in the complaint.”
Although the pair have been booked on charges of abetment to suicide, police said there was no foul play in Akanksha’s death.
Meanwhile, Akanksha Dubey’s hairstylist Rekha More and makeup artist Rahul have revealed that before her death, the actress looked happy and also attended a party.
The duo added that Akanksha “lived life like a lioness and took care of everyone she worked with”.
Rahul said: “She was a brave girl, and would always stand for others.
“I met her for the first time during the lockdown period. Later we came to know that we both were from the same town, Bhadohi. Since then I was working as her personal makeup artist,”
