After a thorough investigation by Thames Valley Police, a man has been sentenced to more than six and a half years in prison after raping and sexually assaulting a schoolgirl.

Hamza Mohammed Ali, aged 24 and residing in High Wycombe, admitted guilt to one count of rape, one count of sexual assault, and one count of inciting sexual activity with a child.

During the hearing at Aylesbury Crown Court on September 7, 2023, Ali was subsequently handed a combined sentence of six years and nine months.

On March 21, 2021, between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., Ali arranged to meet a young female via Snapchat.

He picked her up and took her to his home address. Upon arrival, Ali led the teenage girl to his bedroom, coercing her into removing her clothing.

He then proceeded to bite her on the neck and breasts, resulting in bruising.

Another individual living at the same address returned, so Ali forced his victim to hide in a wardrobe.

Once this person left the house, Ali went on raping his victim before driving her back to her home.

The victim sustained bite injuries during this harrowing ordeal.

Detective Inspector Simon Mountain of the Child Abuse Investigation Unit said:

“Ali subjected his young victim to a truly abhorrent crime, and caused her injuries as a result of this offence.

“We would like to praise the victim for her courage in supporting this investigation and we hope that she will be able to put this behind her in the knowledge that her attacker has been jailed.

“Ali pleaded guilty to the offenses, and so this meant that the victim did not have to re-live her ordeal in court.

“Thames Valley Police will never tolerate this type of behaviour and will always seek to prosecute offenders and put them before the courts where they belong.”

The case has sparked conversations around the use of Snapchat and other social media platforms.

In a post by Sikh Youth UK, they explained on Instagram:

“Snapchat has become the chosen platform for children and young people to send sexually explicit images or selfies.

“Once a photo/video has been screenshotted, or recorded using another device or software, this can lead to further dangers, such as blackmail and cyberbullying.”

They’ve urged parents to have a chat with their children about this topic to prevent any cases like the one involving Ali.

The page outlined steps like “restrict story views”, using “ghost mode” and turning off “quick add” on Snapchat and Instagram can help protect children and their online activity.
