Exercising during the summer can be exhausting, but yoga exercises can be very helpful to keep one’s body healthy, fresh and active.
Malaika Arora, known for her extreme fitness, has shared yoga exercises with her fans that can be done at home.
Malaika shared three yoga poses that she practises regularly for naturally detoxing her body and having healthier skin.
The actress and fitness enthusiast shared these exercises as a part of her weekly routine.
Taking to her social media handle, Malaika shared some fitness tips for the summer. She said:
“We all need to keep our body hydrated to beat the heat and keep it healthy.
“While we continue to drink lots and lots of water, this #MalaikasMoveOfTheWeek, I am sharing three poses that I practise regularly for healthy skin.
“These poses can be very effective in purifying blood leading to healthy-looking skin.”
The following are the yoga exercises encouraged by Malaika.
Shoulder Stand Pose (Sarvangasana)
“Sarvangasana regulates the flow of blood towards your face as you are upside down.
“This is how the quality and texture of your skin improves while also building strength around shoulders and back.”
Malaika shared the picture of her doing the pose.
The yoga pose requires one to lie down in the supine position and raise their legs slowly upwards and bring it to a 90-degree angle.
Then, start tilting the legs towards the head by raising the buttocks. And raise the legs, abdomen and chest again to form a straight line with your body.
Lastly, place the palms on the back for extra support and place the chin against the chest.
Maintain the position for as long as you are comfortable. However, try to stay in this position for at least 15 seconds.
Plough Pose (Halasana)
Explaining the benefits of this pose, Malaika said:
“This pose helps to reduce stress, calms the mind and improves your digestive process, all of which has an amazing effect on your skin.”
Showing the final pose practically, Malaika appears in a plough position.
The pose requires one to lie on the back with their palms facing the ground.
Take a deep breath in and with that exhale, press the palms into the floor and raise the legs towards the ceiling.
For added support, place the hands on the lower back of the body.
One can also bend the knees to help with balance.
After that, slowly and gradually tilt the legs further and place the feet on the ground behind and then breathe slowly.
To come out of the pose, slowly release the hands from the back and brings the feet flat on the ground.
Triangle Pose (Trikonasana)
On the benefits of the yoga pose, Malaika said:
“Trikonasana is a pose that opens the chest and shoulders.
“This opening of the chest allows the supply of fresh oxygen to the skin.”
“Along with benefiting the skin, it also gives you toned arms, legs and thighs as you practise regularly.”
Stand straight on a flat and even ground with your feet comfortably apart.
Turn the right foot to face outside while keeping the heel inwards, making sure to keep both heels in a straight line.
Inhale and bend the body from the hip to the right side while raising the left arm straight up.
Rest the right hand either on the ankle or shin or even on the mat, depending on how comfortable one feels.
Keep the head in line with the torso and gaze up at one’s left palm if it is comfortable to do so.
Let the body relax a bit more with every exhale.
These simple exercises as Malaika said are not just good for the skin, but also detoxes the body and keeps it healthy and active.
