Katrina Kaif says she felt Conscious of Her Looks

Katrina Kaif has admitted that she was conscious of her appearance and believed that her features were not “perfect”.

She explained that as a result, she was trying to live up to societal beauty standards.

The Bollywood actress said that before, she felt that her idea of beauty was shaped by what she saw in magazines and she felt that she “didn’t quite fit in”.

Katrina said: “I grew up thinking that there is just one kind of beauty – it was what you saw in the magazines, and if you didn’t conform to that, then you didn’t cut it.

“I used to be rather conscious about the way I looked because I felt like I didn’t quite fit in.

“Today, people might find that admission a little strange, but back then, I felt that there were things about my features that were not ‘perfect’.

“I realise now that I was the one putting this pressure on myself.”

She went on to say that because of her own experience of feeling the pressure of beauty standards, she personally chooses the women who appear in campaigns for her beauty brand.

Katrina continued: “And I’m not searching for people who look ‘different’, I just realise that each and every single person in the world is different.

“There is no one type of beauty – no specific skin tone or shape or features… every single person is unique and that’s what I want to show.”

In recent years, Katrina Kaif’s appearance has been a talking point on social media, with netizens claiming that she has had botox.

Previously, people accused her of having a “face job”.

One social media user referred to the actress as a “botox queen”.

Another said: “Plastic surgery and botox have ruined her face. Unbelievable looks different.”

A third commented: “Why do they always overdo it with Botox and fillers… Is this like an addiction?

“Once you start and then there is no turning back. She is unrecognisable.”

On numerous occasions, Katrina Kaif has denied having botox.

On the work front, Katrina is coming off the release of Sooryavanshi, which also stars Akshay Kumar.

Since the Covid-19 pandemic, the film has been Bollywood’s biggest hit. It broke opening day records by earning Rs. 26 Crore (£2.5 million).

It’s worldwide gross currently stands at Rs. 177 Crore (£17.7 million).
