Filmmaker Karan Johar has been named as the host of Bigg Boss OTT, the digital version of the popular reality show.
The show will premiere on the streaming platform Voot on August 8, 2021.
Voot took to its official Twitter account to announce Karan Johar’s role as Bigg Boss OTT’s host.
They shared a picture of Johar in a tweet on Saturday, July 24, 2021.
According to Voot, Bigg Boss OTT will be “crazy” and “over the top”.

Twitter users have been reacting to Karan Johar’s new role since the news broke.
One user said:
“As a host he is superb.”
However, others were not so confident about Johar’s ability to host India’s most popular reality show. One user described it as a “great flop season coming ahead”.
On Wednesday, July 21, 2021, the makers of Bigg Boss announced that Bigg Boss 15 will launch on OTT ahead of its television premiere.
Actor Salman Khan has hosted the televised version of Bigg Boss on Colors for more than ten years.
According to ANI, Karan Johar is not replacing Salman Khan, but simply hosting a few episodes on Voot.
Afterwards, Khan will return to host the televised version of Bigg Boss 15.
Speaking to ANI about his excitement to host Bigg Boss OTT, Karan Johar said:
“My mom and I are huge Bigg Boss fans and wouldn’t miss it for a day. As a viewer, it keeps me hugely entertained with dollops of drama.
“For decades now, I have always enjoyed hosting shows and now with Bigg Boss OTT…it will surely be Over The Top.”
“It’s my mother’s dream come true. Bigg Boss OTT will undeniably have a lot more sensational and dramatic.
“I hope I can live up to the audience’s and my friend’s expectations, make Weekend Ka Vaar with the contestants an enjoyable affair in my own style and up the ante on the entertainment quotient.
“Wait for it.”
Bigg Boss OTT, hosted by Karan Johar, will premiere on Voot on August 8, 2021.
