"At his age, I had 2 National Awards."
BJP MP and actor Kangana Ranaut has been at the centre of a heated public exchange over her comments on the student protests.
The controversy stems from her sharp criticism of the Cockroach Janta Party movement that emerged from the Jantar Mantar demonstrations.
Kangana had described social media reels emerging from the protests as “puke-inducing” and labelled the movement “generation gutter.”
Her comments drew a swift response from CJP spokesperson Saurav Das, who questioned whether anyone takes the actor-turned-politician seriously.
Saurav had told ANI: “Even members of her own party don’t pay much heed to Kangana Ranaut or take her seriously, so why should we?
“I don’t think anyone in Gen Z, Gen Alpha, or any younger generation takes her seriously or listens to what she says. She is a politician now.
“There were videos from when she visited her constituency in Himachal Pradesh.
“She remarked that she had expected the job to require very little work, only to realise that being a Member of Parliament involves a massive amount of labour.
“That speaks volumes about her own seriousness. Gen Z has done more for this country than her.”
Kangana wasted no time in firing back at Saurav with a pointed and characteristically sharp response of her own:
“I googled this person, and he is 28 years old. How he claims to be a student, I have no clue!
“Yes I am in politics for the past 2 years, but I have been in public life for the last 20 years.
“At his age, I had 2 National Awards.”
Kangana went further in her response, taking direct aim at Saurav’s professional background and dismissing his credibility entirely:
“Yes as a new Parliamentarian, I was overwhelmed with all the work because I am also a filmmaker + performing artist + producer + screen writer + entrepreneur.
“But someone like him who is totally useless and unemployed will never understand what it means to be in massive demand in all times at any age.
“Dear Saurav, your issues are personal.
“You are not a student; you are simply useless.”
“Let’s start with learning some skill. It’s a good place to start.”
Her remarks predictably escalated the already fiery back and forth between herself and the CJP spokesperson significantly.
Saurav responded to Kangana’s comments through his Instagram Stories, opting for a notably more casual and composed tone in reply:
“Yo Kangana, take a chill pill and let’s talk this out.”
CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka also entered the fray with a sharp and pointed attack directed at the BJP MP:
“You’ve called us cockroaches, you’ve called us gutter.
“Remember, these cockroaches crawled out of the gutter and forced one of your ministers to resign.”
His comment was a direct reference to the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, which took place on July 25, 2026.
Kangana Ranaut’s original criticism of the protesters had been triggered by alleged abusive remarks against the Prime Minister.
She had called such remarks “completely unacceptable” and positioned herself firmly against the student-led movement.
