Surjit Bindrakhia’s popular Punjabi song ‘Dupatta Tera Satrang Da’ has been recreated by the makers of JugJugg Jeeyo.
The upcoming comedy-drama features Anil Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani and Neetu Kapoor.
On June 12, 2022, the makers unveiled the new version, which is sung, composed and penned by Diesby, with Shreya Sharma singing.
Sharing the track’s video on Instagram, Varun wrote: “Loved shooting this track #DUPATTA.
“Tried being very smooth god knows if I was. But loved the footwork. See you in cinemas 24th June.”
In the video, Varun Dhawan, Anil Kapoor and Maniesh Paul are seen grooving to the catchy lyrics in a club.
Kiara Advani also features in the song in the latter half. She looks stunning in a pink coloured mini dress.
The remake has left social media users in awe of Varun’s dancing skills.
One netizen commented: “Your dance moves are so amazing.”
‘Dupatta’ is a peppy track and Varun Dhawan showcases some great moves.
However, the title of the song isn’t justified, as there is no visual or shot of a dupatta. Several netizens pointed out the error, and they mocked the song.
Karan Johar shared the song on Twitter with the caption: “Keeping the dance floor hot and grooving, your party anthem of the year is here! #Dupatta song out now.”

‘Dupatta’ is also a remixed, rehashed version of the 2019 hit song of singer Deep Money, and this also irked a few netizens.
A user asked: “Uff… has #JugJuggJeeyo any original track in the list?”
A netizen replied to him saying: “You are asking Karan Johar… what do you think?”
Another user asserted: “Bruh, literally not even a symbolic dupatta in the video.”
Apart from ‘Dupatta’, the makers have also recreated Kavita Seth’s song ‘Rangi Saari’ and Abrar ul Haq’s ‘Nach Punjaban’.
The Nach Punjaabban Song is the same track that recently got pulled into a controversy.
Abrar ul Haq accused Karan Johar on Twitter of “copying” his song ‘Nach Punjaban’ without his permission and threatened to take legal action against the makers.
Reacting to his plagiarism allegation, T-Series had issued a statement mentioning that they have legally acquired all the rights to adapt the song.
They added that the company has sourced the song from the Moviebox Records Label which owns the copyright to the Nach Punjaban track.
JugJugg Jeeyo is a family drama that is helmed by Raj Mehta of Good Newwz fame. It is scheduled to release in cinemas on June 24, 2022.
