"Vivek took her inside the room, locked the door and abused her."
Motivational speaker Vivek Bindra has been booked for allegedly assaulting his wife.
Police said the case was registered on December 14, 2023, eight days after they got married.
The complaint was filed by Vaibhav Kwatra, Vivek Bindra’s brother-in-law.
According to the complaint, Yanika and Vivek got married at The Lalit Mangar Hotel on December 6.
But a day later, Vivek and his mother got into an argument. When Yanika tried to intervene, she was allegedly assaulted by her new husband.
Vaibhav claimed his sister suffered a rupture to her eardrum and is undergoing treatment in hospital.
The complaint stated: “On December 7, Vivek indulged in an argument with his mother following which my sister Yanika interfered.
“Vivek took her inside the room, locked the door and abused her.
“He beat her, because of which she has wounds all over his body and cannot even hear properly.
“He pulled her hair, she is also feeling dizzy due to the head wound.”
Vaibhav also alleged that Vivek Bindra broke his sister’s phone, submitting videos of the accused being abusive.
An investigation is currently underway.
An FIR has been registered under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) of the Indian Penal Code.
Vivek Bindra is the founder of Bada Business. He is also a YouTuber, with over 21 million subscribers.
This is not the only scandal he has been embroiled in.
Recently, YouTuber Sandeep Maheshwari released a video titled Big Scam Exposed.
The video accused Vivek of running a course that was likened to a multi-level marketing scam. It involves students paying large fees to be taught “business”.
The fees amount to nearly Rs. 500 crore (£47 million).
Vivek broke his silence in a YouTube video, denying any wrongdoing and challenging Sandeep.
Things intensified when Vivek claimed his legal team was threatened while Sandeep’s house was allegedly intruded on by Vivek’s employees.
In June 2022, Vivek faced backlash from the Sikh community over an animated depiction of Guru Gobind Singh in one of his videos.
The controversy prompted demands for an apology and Vivek had to apologise.
In 2018, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) filed a case against Vivek Bindra.
The IMA accused Vivek of using defamatory language against doctors in a video titled Reality of Indian Medical System.
Despite facing a potential Rs. 50 crore (£4.7 million) defamation suit, Vivek emerged victorious, with the court emphasising the importance of freedom of expression.
