he did so "just for fun".
An Indian woman from Bengaluru has been arrested after it was found that she killed her fiancé for uploading her nude pictures online and sharing them with his friends.
The victim was identified as Vikash Rajan. He was admitted to hospital with serious injuries. His health deteriorated and he died on September 14, 2022.
A case of unnatural death was initially filed but during a police investigation, it was discovered that he was killed by his fiancée and three of her male friends.
Vikash was a doctor who obtained his degree from a university in Ukraine.
He worked in Chennai for a few years before moving to Bengaluru.
In addition to working at a hospital, Vikash helped students who were interested in pursuing medical courses abroad.
He had been in a relationship with Pratibha, an architect whom he met through social media.
They were engaged, living together and in the process of planning their wedding.
But one day, Pratibha came across her naked pictures on Instagram.
The angry woman confronted Vikash and he admitted to leaking the nude photos sometime during their relationship.
He told her that he created a fake account to upload the pictures. Vikash also told Pratibha that he shared the pictures with some of his friends in Tamil Nadu, saying he did so “just for fun”.
Enraged, the Indian woman then contacted her friends and hatched a revenge plan.
On September 10, 2022, the Indian woman took her fiancé to a house in New Mico Layout, Begur, telling him that there was a party.
But upon entering the house, they were confronted by three of Pratibha’s friends.
The trio and Pratibha then brutally beat Vikash, using mops and water bottles as weapons.
The assault continued until Vikash was unconscious.
Realising the severity of the assault, Pratibha then admitted Vikash to the hospital, where he eventually died.
During police questioning, the Indian woman admitted to being responsible but insisted that she did not intend to kill her fiancé.
But the victim’s brother said Pratibha told him that Vikash was attacked by his friends and that she had not been there.
The case was upgraded to murder and Pratibha was arrested.
Her three accomplices – identified as Gautham, Sushil and Sunil – were also arrested.
The four remain in custody while an investigation continues.
