"I am very happy as I did not expect to receive it on the stage."

Police have claimed an Indian woman took her own life in Andhra Pradesh following trolling from various political parties.

Geethanjali Devi reportedly faced trolling from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Jana Sena Party (JSP) after voicing her praise for the ruling YSR Congress Party.

According to the YSR Congress Party, the trolling became too much for Geethanjali to bear and she allegedly jumped from a platform and was hit by a speeding train.

At a YSR Congress Party event on March 4, 2024, Geethanjali spoke about receiving a plot of land under the Andhra Pradesh government’s ‘Jagananna Housing Scheme’.

Geethanjali said she was a beneficiary of multiple welfare schemes under YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s government.

She said: “My dream has come true today as the house site is now in my name.

“I am very happy as I did not expect to receive it on the stage.”

The Indian woman said she would vote for Reddy, adding:

“He has fulfilled our dreams. I haven’t paid any money for the plot.

“Instead, I received benefits such as Amma Vodi, a pension for my father-in-law, financial assistance through ‘YSR Cheyutha’ for my mother-in-law, and now, my dream house.”

The video of her was then used as publicity material and posted by the party, calling Geethanjali the “star campaigner of the day”.

However, opposition parties began trolling her, with some derogatory comments aimed her way.

Geethanjali faced accusations that she had been paid to make such statements.

Police said: “Unable to deal with the constant trolling, Geethanjali reportedly went to the Tenali Railway Station on March 7 and jumped in front of the Janmabhoomi Express.”

She was rushed to Guntur Government Hospital but died during treatment.

Andhra Pradesh Women Commission’s former chairperson Vasavi Padma said stringent action would be taken against those social media handles that targeted her.

Officials have said that an investigation into her death is underway.

Although it has been reported that Geethanjali was driven to suicide by the hurtful comments, there are claims that she was actually murdered.

On social media, many have alleged that she was murdered and her death was made to look like a suicide.

There are claims that she was pushed by two men who are part of the YSR Congress Party.

One user posted: “Was it an accident or was she pushed from behind by those two men?”

Another tweeted: “CCTV Footage at Tenali Railway Station must be brought out.

“The identity of the two men following Geetanjali and their connection with YSRCP must be revealed.”

One wondered why it took four days for Geetanjali’s death to be announced, questioning:

“When she met with the ‘accident’ on 7th of March, why did YSRCP wait until 11th of March?

“Were they preparing grounds to make it look like a suicide?

“Was Geetanjali murdered for an unknown reason by members belonging to YSRCP? Was she killed in the hospital by goons so this could look like a suicidal death?”

Although it has been reported that Geetanjali took her own life, social media discussion suggests a more sinister cause of death.
