An Indian woman is facing condemnation for berating an Uber driver and slapping the phone out of her hand.

The incident, which happened in Las Vegas, was caught on camera.

The clip showed the passenger getting out of the vehicle and swearing at the driver, accusing her of arriving at the wrong location.

But according to the driver, the woman waited at an incorrect pickup point for 10 minutes, which led to a delay. The passenger denied this and insisted the driver was at fault for arriving late.

The Uber driver filmed the exchange as the passenger told her:

“You cannot cancel a ride after making us wait for 10 minutes when you went to the wrong place.”

The driver immediately denied going to the wrong location.

As the woman continues to claim the driver wasn’t there, the latter repeatedly asks her to lower her voice.

The passenger grows increasingly angry and in the closing seconds of the clip, she appears to slap the phone.

The video was captioned: “This Las Vegas Uber driver was brutally slapped by a passenger who the driver claims was waiting at the wrong pickup location for 10 minutes, which led to the passenger being mad.

“She argued with the driver and assaulted her at the end of the video.”

The clip sparked an online discussion, with some suggesting that large Las Vegas resorts often causes confusion due to multiple designated pickup areas.

One user said: “I’m sure the passenger was in the wrong spot.

“If you’re in a big resort, there are sometimes multiple rideshare pickup spots… I’m sure she chose the wrong one.”

Many slammed the passenger for her behaviour, with one commenting:

“No driver deserves to be assaulted for doing their job… Accountability needs to be immediate in cases like this.”

Another said: “Permanent ban from the app and an assault charge. These drivers are out here working and people think they can treat them like punching bags.”

Others focused on the woman’s Indian nationality and it led to comments with racist overtones.

One person wrote:

“Indians must be deported… This is not their country.”

Another commented: “Everyone involved in this video should be deported immediately.”

A third added: “Indians must be deported. Indians cannot be entitled. This is not their country. It will never be.”

Such comments come at a time of heightened hostility toward migrants in the US.

Under the Trump administration, a wider immigration crackdown is underway, including large-scale ICE raids, H-1B visa fee hikes, deportations, asylum restrictions, and green card limitations.
