“The allegations with FIR lodged are grave and concerning"
Reality TV star Pradhyuman Maloo is facing domestic violence accusations from his wife.
He appeared in the first season of Netflix’s Indian Matchmaking and the entrepreneur was one of Sima Taparia’s clients.
However, he became known for having high expectations about the girl he would marry and rejected 150 potential partners.
Pradhyuman ended up meeting model Ashima Chauhaan off-screen.
Pradhyuman appeared in the second season of the show to reveal his partner to the viewers.
During the episode, it was revealed that the couple had been together for two years and had a grand wedding in Udaipur, Rajasthan, in February 2022.
It has now been reported that Ashima filed a police case against Pradhyuman and his family, citing domestic violence.
An FIR was registered by the Mumbai Police.
According to the FIR, Ashima moved out of her home in September 2022.
It is alleged that Pradhyuman and his family subjected Ashima to physical and emotional abuse. The FIR also claimed that her family were blackmailed and harassed.
Ashima’s legal representative Anmol Bartaria said:
“The allegations with FIR lodged are grave and concerning with domestic violence and constant mental, physical abuse at its core.
“The matter is in the investigative stage and should be carried in full swing.
“Ashima is in the process of taking appropriate legal proceedings against the accused in accordance with law.”
He added that Ashima is currently living with her family in Bengaluru and is not in the right frame of mind to comment on the matter.
But when Pradhyuman was asked about the FIR, he said he was unaware of it.
He said: “I don’t know about it.
“To the best of my knowledge, we are in settlement talks with lawyers to resolve our marital issues amicably.”
During his time on Indian Matchmaking, model Rushali Rai was one of his potential matches. But things did not progress.
She expressed her shock over the matter and stated that Pradhyuman does not seem like a person who would abuse his wife.
Rushali said:
“He doesn’t seem like that person. I heard that they are breaking up but didn’t know about domestic violence.”
“As far as I’ve known him, this can’t be true.”
Speaking about her wedding, Ashima previously said:
“I never wanted a partner who was from the acting profession, but I did want someone who could understand social media attention.
“Given Pradhyuman’s time on Indian Matchmaking, we didn’t need to have a conversation about how to navigate online fame; we just intuitively understood how we’d be dealing with it together.”
