"This airport is basically a luxury mall"
An Indian man went viral for filming his 13-hour layover, which turned into a luxury mall trip as it was at Abu Dhabi International Airport.
The X user, named Karteek, highlighted the airport’s impressive array of designer stores.
These include Hermes, Balenciaga and Gucci, among others.
What was surprising was that even though it was an airport, it was not packed with travellers.
Karteek tweeted: “13 hours overnight layover in Abu Dhabi before I fly to Madrid.
“This airport is basically a luxury mall where flights also land and take off.”

Abu Dhabi International Airport is famous for its facilities including luxury shops, Etihad Airways lounges, duty-free shopping and restaurants.
Proving this right, Karteek displayed other grand amenities available to passengers in a follow-up post.
These included a massive lounge with restrooms where guests can take showers.
Netizens also got a glimpse of Karteek’s meal.
The Indian man quipped over how the Emiratis have decoded luxury and hospitality like no one else.
His tweet read: “Didn’t even know one could take long hot showers in an airport. The very concept of lounges was alien.
“But it is totally worth getting yourself a nice credit card that enables access, especially if you travel internationally.
“Also, side note – the Emiratis have cracked luxury and hospitality like no one else.”
Karteek’s post left many in awe as they pointed out an airport experience unlike any other.
One said: “That’s some layover.”
Another asked: “Flying next month there. Any tips/recommendations on the things to do?”
Karteek replied to the user:
“In the airport? Tbh nothing else except spending money hahaha.”
“The lounge is very nice if you can go.”
Meanwhile, one person claimed there are far more luxury airports than just Abu Dhabi.
“How many airports around the world have you been to? Abu Dhabi airport is nothing!”
While Kartik’s luxurious experience at Abu Dhabi Airport highlights the pinnacle of airport amenities, it also raised an interesting contrast with other airports around the world.
Many airports feature an array of shops and cafés, yet not all provide the same level of luxury.
