An Indian man was caught on video assaulting a young woman and forcing her into a cab.

The incident happened on a busy road in Delhi’s Mangolpuri area.

The video shows a barefoot man hitting a young woman, grabbing her by her clothes and pushing her into the vehicle.

He continues to punch her before slamming the door shut.

Another man, who is said to be a friend of the attacker, stands by the opposite door and watches. Meanwhile, the driver sits and waits, not helping the victim.

Both men get into the cab and the car drives off.

Even though the incident happened on a busy road, nobody helps the young woman.

One man on a motorcycle is even seen looking over but continues on his journey without intervening.

It was reported that it was an altercation between the woman and her two male friends.

Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chairperson Swati Maliwal took to Twitter to share the video of the incident and ensured strict action.

She tweeted: “Taking cognisance of this viral video of a woman being forced into a vehicle and beaten up,

“I am issuing a notice to the Delhi Police. The commission will ensure strict action against these people.”

The video soon attracted police attention and it was discovered that the cab driver lived in Gurugram.

A police official said: “During the investigation, it was found that the cab was last seen at Gurugram’s Iffco Chowk late Saturday night around 11:30 pm.

“Our team has retrieved the CCTV footage from the area.”

It was reported that the vehicle was booked through Uber from Rohini for Vikaspuri by the two men and the woman.

During the journey, the woman got into an argument with one friend which turned physical.

She got out of the vehicle, prompting the Indian man to run after her.

Delhi Police eventually traced the driver and the young woman. She was questioned over the matter.

DCP Harendra Singh said the vehicle was an Uber cab. He said:

“We managed to get booking details from the app and traced the Uber driver who told us the woman and her two friends were coming home after a party.

“However, the woman and the man got into a serious fight and she left the car.”

“He also got out and then pushed her into the car.

“The driver led us to the woman and her friend. The woman is being questioned and her statement will be recorded.

“Accordingly, legal action will be initiated against the man.”
