"I don't want to waste my time with meeting random people"

Anurag Kashyap hit out at “random people” wasting his time and has now declared he will charge such people for his time.

The filmmaker’s innovative approach has ignited inspiration in many, standing out as one of the industry’s straight-talking figures.

Over time, he has provided numerous newcomers with a platform to exhibit their talents.

However, Anurag has become frustrated over meetings that have been a complete waste of time.

Taking to Instagram, the director announced that from now on, he will charge people to arrange a meeting with him.

The angry post read: “I wasted a lot of time trying to help newcomers and mostly ended up up with mediocre s**t.

“So now onwards I don’t want to waste my time with meeting random people who think they’re creative geniuses. So I will now have rates.”

Revealing his hefty charges, Anurag continued:

“If someone wants to meet me for 10-15 minutes I will charge 1 lakh (£950), for half hour 2 lakhs (£1,900) and for 1 hour 5 lakhs (£4,700). That’s the rate.

“I am tired of wasting time meeting people. If you really think you can afford it, call me or stay the f**k away. And all paid in advance.”

Anurag Kashyap insisted that he was being serious and captioned the post:

“And I mean it. Don’t text or dm or call me. Pay, and you will get time.

“I am not a charity, and I am tired of people looking for shortcuts.”

His post led to a lot of reaction, with his daughter Aaliyah Kashyap commenting:

“Forwarding this to everyone in my dms and email who keep sending me scripts to forward to you.”

Fellow celebrities from the entertainment industry agreed with Anurag’s statement.

Shahana Goswami wrote: “But Babu wouldn’t people who can pay for your time more likely waste your time as much, if not more..?

“I agree with the first part but then maybe don’t meet anyone… let destiny make, you meet your collaborators accidentally?”

Kubbra Sait said: “Amen!”

Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur wrote: “Honestly Anurag… I often feel the same way!”

However, others criticised Anurag for his comments.

One asked: “So you’ll help only rich kids?”

Some cited his public support of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal.

A user stated: “Supporting s****y films like Animal leads to such frustrations.”

Another commented: “The guy who called Vanga a genius thinks he can differentiate between mediocre people and genius ones.”

Meanwhile, on the work front, Anurag Kashyap recently announced he will make his Malayalam film debut as an actor in director Aashiq Abu’s upcoming movie Rifle Club.

His directorial Kennedy is also in the pipeline.
