Netflix’s Indian Matchmaking has returned for a second season and so has Sima Taparia.

In the show, she helps wealthy young Indians find suitable matches.

Sima initially began this as a hobby but became so good at it that people suggested she do it professionally.

She also has Indian clients based in the UK, USA, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Australia, South Africa, and Nigeria.

On Indian Matchmaking, viewers watch Sima’s matchmaking skills but also her roasting skills.

During the first season, she called out her clients for being too “stubborn and picky” when it came to choosing their respective life partners.

The second season returned on August 10, 2022, and Sima shot down her client Nadia’s interest in a man named Vishal because of their seven-year age gap.

When Nadia tried to argue her case, Sima cited Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’ relationship.

Admitting that she is not a fan of the star couple, Sima said:

“They have married but it’s not a good match.

“He looks so small and petite in front of her, and she looks elder.”

Despite her controversial comments, it is certain that there will be more demand for Sima to help find suitable matches for Indian singletons.

But how much does it cost to hire Sima Taparia?

While it is not exactly known what she charges, it is believed to be between $1,300 and $8,000.

This figure changes depending on the family she is working with.

This may sound like a hefty amount but Sima does a lot to ensure that her services are worth the price.

Firstly, she collects information and documents relevant to the client and registers them as a member of her matchmaking service.

Based on the client’s lifestyle and preferences, Sima and her team then draw up a shortlist of potential matches.

The horoscopes are then matched before the families are approached for their approval of the proposals.

Once both families approve of the match, a meeting is arranged.

A representative from Sima’s matchmaking team, or Sima herself, oversees the meeting to ensure it goes smoothly. Afterwards, both families give their feedback.

The hefty fee also involves Sima and her team travelling around the world to meet her clients in person.

In an interview with Condé Nast Traveller India, Sima explained how she works and the logic behind her pricing.

She said: “I go and meet the boy and the family, see what their home is like, where they work, where they have been to school.

“This helps me assess their lifestyles so I can recommend a match that is on an even keel.

“This is where Tinder, Bumble and Shaadi.com can’t compete.

“I get to the bottom of things, finding out all the inside stories, the family’s values and other such details you would never get from looking at a person’s online profile.”

Speaking about the type of clients she works with, Sima added:

“I only work with high-profile clients.

“In India when I meet clients they usually have a working wedding budget in mind.”

“So based on that golden number, I quote my price that I charge as a lump sum.”

Although Sima Taparia was unable to find any suitable matches for her clients in the first season, she is hoping to do better in the second season.

Season two features some familiar faces as well as a new group of singletons.

The cast includes Nadia Jagessar, Pradhyuman Maloo, Aparna Shewakramani, Viral Joshi, Shital Patel, Akshay Dhumal, Arshneel Singh and Vinesh.
