"They have married but it's not a good match."
According to Indian Matchmaking star Sima Taparia, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas are not a “good match”.
Sima is a well-known matchmaker for India’s high-profile Marwari and Gujarati families.
She gained fame on Netflix’s Indian Matchmaking where she helps clients to find suitable matches.
In the first season, Sima was unable to find any matches for her clients.
Indian Matchmaking is now back for a second season and while she helps her clients to find suitable partners, Sima also gave her opinion on one celebrity couple.
While speaking to her client Nadia Jagessar’s family, Sima gave her opinion on Priyanka and Nick.
Nadia explained that she was interested in a man named Vishal, who was seven years younger than her.
However, Sima quickly shot it down, stating that the age gap was too much.
Nadia tried to argue her case, citing Priyanka and Nick’s 11-year gap.
This prompted Sima to admit that she is not a fan of the star couple.
Sima told Nadia: “They have married but it’s not a good match.”
The matchmaker then seemingly age-shamed Priyanka, adding:
“He looks so small and petite in front of her, and she looks elder.”
Sima’s strong opinion left everyone speechless while Nadia looked stunned.
In her confessional, Nadia defended her interest in Vishal and pointed out that despite being seven years younger than her, he never acted immaturely.
But Sima Taparia stuck by her opinion.
She said that an age gap of two to three years is still fine but anything more than that would not be a “good match” owing to differences in worldviews.
This is not the first time that Sima’s strong opinions raised eyebrows.
During the first season of Indian Matchmaking, Sima caused controversy when she called out her clients for being too “stubborn and picky” when it came to choosing their respective life partners.
Sima’s insistence to adjust and compromise to make a marriage work didn’t sit well with many viewers who criticised her for her archaic way of thinking.
However, this time around Sima might have to not only face the ire of social media viewers who aren’t fans of her archaic views on marriage but also Priyanka and Nick’s fans.
