"Mans like Joshua can have my leftovers!"
Fans were in for a surprise when it appeared as though Amir Khan and Anthony Joshua had put their differences behind them.
The pair were pictured together while on holiday in Dubai.
Khan sensationally accused Joshua of having an affair with his wife Faryal in a series of now-deleted tweets in 2017.
After publicly announcing he and Faryal were ending their marriage at the time, Khan wrote:
“Faryal moved on quick. Always mentioned to me how much she wanted to be with another guy, from all people another boxer @anthonyfjoshua.”
He concluded the outburst by saying:
“Mans like Joshua can have my leftovers!”
Anthony Joshua quickly rubbished the allegations by sharing a video of the Shaggy song ‘It Wasn’t Me’ and wrote:
“Bantz aside, I hope you guys can resolve your situation or this is a hack as we have never even met! Plus I like my women BBW #ItWasntMe.”
A few months later, Amir Khan hinted that he had resolved things with Joshua by tweeting:
“@anthonyfjoshua glad all is cleared up and all lies. I got angry like any man would. No truth to it. Good to know. All the best.”
Joshua then replied: “Apology accepted.”
Khan has since expressed regret over the accusations, admitting they were unwarranted and had cost him a “good friend” in Joshua.
In March 2023, Joshua had hit out at several boxers, Khan being one of them, who had spoken about the possibility that Joshua is coming to the end of his career.
Hitting back at his critics, Joshua said:
“These people don’t get me. Not on my wavelength. Not at my level.
“I don’t use boxing as a platform to rant and rave and disrespect other fighters.
“If these people have something to say, say it to me. They have my number. Call me.
“If I have something to say about you, I’ll say it face to face.
“I won’t talk about my enemies online. I prefer to stay silent. These people want me to talk back but why should I get dragged in by clowns?
“When it was Carl talking s*** about me, I messaged him directly to ask what it was all about.
“When it was Amir and that s*** about me with his wife why did he go online? At least message me.
“And then when I see these guys at a fight or somewhere they’re coming up and saying hi AJ how are you? How does that work?
“Where I come from it’s not about getting clouts it’s about results.”
It now seems the pair have buried the hatchet.
Faryal also gave her seal of approval by posting the raising hands emoji.
Fans commended Amir Khan for making amends, pointing out that he recently repaired his relationship with Hamzah Sheeraz.
One said: “Amir making amends with everyone.”
Another wrote: “This guy is out there repairing relationships this Ramadan.”
A third said: “Glad to see this happen.”
