"Diljit told me don’t say this, he will get angry.”
Gippy Grewal recalled how he nearly angered Salman Khan during their first meeting.
He went on to reveal that Diljit Dosanjh’s intervention was the only reason the situation remained “nearly”.
The Punjabi star met Salman during filming of the song ‘Character Dheela’ from the Bollywood actor’s 2011 film Ready.
At the time, Gippy admitted that he was not fluent in Hindi, making him nervous about the encounter.
In an interview with Mashable India, Gippy explained that during the interaction, he complimented Salman by saying:
“Paji, you have nice biceps.”
However, the comment only confused Salman and he replied:
“Huh?”
Sensing the discomfort, Diljit Dosanjh advised Gippy to refrain from making such comments, fearing that Salman might get angry.
Revealing the piece of advice, Gippy said:
“Diljit told me don’t say this, he will get angry.”
In a previous interview, Diljit reminisced about meeting Salman in Punjab while he was filming Bodyguard.
Diljit shared: “Salman sir was in Punjab shooting for a song in Bodyguard while I was shooting for a Punjabi film.
“When I learned he was in town, I was so excited and wanted to meet him and get a picture with him. I asked quite a few people and finally found someone who could help us visit him on the set.”
Gippy Grewal’s apparent association with Salman Khan was mentioned in November 2023 when the former’s home in Canada faced gunfire.
A Facebook account purportedly belonging to notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi later claimed responsibility for the attack.
A post issued an ominous warning to Gippy, stating that the shooting was due to his association with Salman Khan.
The post read: “You consider Salman Khan a brother but now it’s time for your ‘brother’ to come and save you.
“This message is also for Salman Khan – don’t be in the illusion that Dawood will save you; no one can save you.”
“Your dramatic response to Sidhu Moose Wala’s death did not go unnoticed.
“We all know the kind of person he was and the criminal associations he had.”
The post ended with the warning:
“Flee to any country you wish, but remember, death doesn’t require a visa; it comes uninvited.”
Gippy Grewal later broke his silence on the matter, stating he is not friends with Salman.
He said: “I have no friendship with Salman Khan and the anger of it is being taken out on me.”
