Tanuj Virwani recently opened up about his past relationship with Akshara Haasan.
He shed light on the circumstances that led to their breakup and their subsequent disconnection.
The duo, who dated for four years, faced a tumultuous turn of events when private photos of Akshara were leaked online.
The leak put a strain on Tanuj and Akshara’s relationship and it was reported that they broke up over it.
In a candid interview with Siddharth Kannan, Tanuj discussed his amicable relationships with his ex-girlfriends.
The actor revealed: “I am friends with many of my exes and more than friendship, we have mutual respect for each other.”
However, he revealed that he has lost touch with Akshara Haasan, citing a loss of respect as a pivotal factor.
Tanuj emphasised the significance of standing up for a partner when needed.
He stated: “Sometimes when you lose respect for your partner, and you don’t take a stand for them when you have to, then I may forgive but not forget.
“In that case, I don’t have to be friends. We are happy in our respective space.”
Speaking about the leaked photos, Tanuj Virwani said:
“It has nothing to do with our breakup.
“But, everything that happened about the leaked pictures, either you believe I have done it, or you believe I haven’t.
“And in that case, you need to take a stand for me. But, she didn’t. I believe everybody has their own reasons and now it doesn’t really matter.”
While reflecting on the past, Tanuj expressed that his wife, Tanya Jacob, had expressed concerns about the situation with Akshara. This was when they first met.
Despite the challenging circumstances surrounding his breakup with Akshara, Tanuj disclosed that he was transparent with Tanya.
He claimed she knew about the whole episode while they were still friends.
Tanuj said:
“The irony here is that I met Tanya around the time when I broke up with Akshara.”
“We were just friends at that point, but we had met around that time.
“And at that time, maybe out of curiosity or concern, I am not sure, but she did ask me about the whole episode.
“My answer was still the same. I told her the reality. That’s about it.”
Tanuj Virwani and Tanya Jacob tied the knot in a Christmas-themed ceremony held in Lonavala in December 2023.
The couple is now expecting their first child.
