The 20th March 2009 was the date of the renowned Pure Desi event, held at Birmingham’s stylish Chi Bar on Newhall Street in the UK. An impressive line up of DJ’s drew in the crowds for another night of top notch sounds and partying.
DESIblitz.com was there to witness a night of Pure Desi music and acts for a crowd aching to get into the party mood after a long week of work or studying.
Birmingham based, Money Spinner, got the crowd going with an exclusive set from their ‘Poetry’ album. Their music boomed the room giving the Bhangra vibe for people to move and groove to non-stop.
Then, it was time for the legendary Dr Zeus to come on and literally wow the people onto the dance floor with a fantastic set from his ‘Unda Da Influence’ album. His sound, being his trademark, didn’t take long for the crowd at the party to get into the groove of a night of pure dancing desi style.
While the tunes rocked the dance floor, party goers sampled the array of the lagers, spirits and cocktails on offer. It was good to see the DJ’s mixing with the crowd, soaking up the atmosphere and enjoying a drink before and after performances.
The dance floor was packed all night, with everyone having a real good time and enjoying themselves. A definite testament to the quality of the Desi tunes being played.
A friendly crowd, good music and plenty of drinks were all the ingredients required to create a great atmosphere and a thoroughly enjoyable night. Lots of happy people having a good time with some familiar faces like Angie and Sid of Dollar Entertainments and DJ’s Rax n Roly.
Certain sections of the crowd were camera shy but the majority of revellers were more than happy to strike a pose on the night. A gallery from the evening can be found below.
